Looking for mod for LAN

Hi there guys.

I'm kind of new here. I use to play Crossfire a few years ago, but left to do other things, now i'm back, but I've forgotten most of the stuff about the mod ^_^;

Anyway, I'm looking to host a freelancer LAN at a party down the road, and I want to find a reccomended mod to run. I would like to use Crossfire, but I understand that you guys don't allow private crossfire servers, and I'm cool with that (Although the mod is brilliant :P)

I would say to everyone at the lan to just join the Crossfire server, but we're from Australia, and my average ping is around 300 >_> so playing on the actual Crossfire server is hard.

Anyway, who can reccomend a good mod to play on a lan, and who can reccomend good admin tools to use? I remember from a while ago I had a program that allowed me to edit players on the server, so I could bump up money and change equipment and such, and seeing as the guys on the LAN will want to get right into the action, I would be just adding money so everyone could buy good ships right away.

If anybody has suggestions, they would be great.

Is there any way to change initial Crossfire options (Such as intro music and costumes) without uninstalling Freelancer completely? That does bug me >_>;

In my opinion FL 1.0 is quite boring, I'd like a mod that spices the game up a bit that I can lan

Restoring backups does not seem to work for me, but I guess I can just have multiple installs for different mods. Thanks.

I have not heard of those two, are they solely just based on exploration, or are they good combat mods as well? We would ideally like something like Crossfire that offers a good mix of new places (Dom Kavash space for instance) and awesome ships and weapons.

I'm thinking of TT, but it seems like TT servers you need permission for, so I may be in the same boat as I am here ^__^;

However, Freeworlds looks like it could be the way to go. I like a nice structured mod, with some fun ships to fly around in. Of course, Crossfire is perfect, but you guys won't let me have my own server

I'm sure that OP has his reasons for not letting people play with server versions, possibly because they could find where all the hidden stuff is or something.

The server is actually for a LAN I am running for my Birthday party, so maybe the birthday spirit could be passed on Happy birthday OP ^_^;

But I understand why people don't allow it. I've posted on Tekagi's forums and they don't allow private servers either. I guess i'll try and search around still.

Other then that, I guess I could just host a normal freelancer server... but that is kinda boring.

Not sure what Datastorm or Flex are... but I guess they are database programs or something.

I guess there really isn't much that can be found out if you have access to the actual crossfire database.
