hidden wreck loot question

  • Typically, how long does loot stay with hidden wrecks after you have blasted the wreck and left it float in space? My ship is small and I take all I can fit, sell it, and return as fast as I can. But it's gone. Is there a way to eject some of my other stuff to make room?

  • clear press f7 - select the stuff you want to eject and press on the garbage collector ;)

  • I never knew there was an option to "jettiso" cargo. How cool.

I'd still like to know how long the loot stays around, though.

  • whilst a player is close to the loot it will stay, as soon as every player is outta of range it will dissappear.

  • I think there is a mximum of about 10-15 seconds, if no player ship is within tractor range of the floating loot, that you can return to the scene & recover it. You can test this during missions: one often winds up chasing NPC's a bit during a mission, so the resulting loot gets spread out. Time how long you can move out of range, and return to it. Another way is to select a loot item with your mouse & fly out of tractor range, and time how long it stays on your scanner...

  • the area is a bit more than the tractor range but basically you are correct

and before ppl start to ask if i could make this area bigger so you can return... yes i can... but it wont help - no matter how big the area is
-> ass soon you dock with a station you technically "leave" the system (yes seriously you do) and that means that you have also left the area
