I'm having some trouble even launching the game. I downloaded everything and installed the latest patch. Whenever I try to launch the multiplayer or the singleplayer option I get "Run-time error '5': Invalid procedure call or argument" Can anyone help me!

hmm... try downloading Visual Basic 6 runfiles. google for them as it's too late and I'm so not eager to search for them by myself

I did download them and install em but it never worked that sucks really.

You get what error message? Are you sure you downloaded the correct VB6 runtime? There are most likely different versions for different OSses and SPs...
Could you please be a bit more specific what is your problem? Thanks. -
I am getting this error as well -> Problem starting Multiplay(E5) when i click on luanch multiplayer, and get Problem starting Multiplayr(E7) as i click on singliplayer. This happens time to time and really have no idea where would be the problem ;S.

Terminate the progress of Freelancer in the Task Manager( Processes ) after you exit from the game and you're fine
