    Creating Factions


    Tools needed:
    + FL Save Editor
    + Notepad
    + BiniQDU


    Ok, here we go..


    Step 1: ids-names


    IDS_NAME and IDS_INFO(1,2,3) are set out like this:


    ids_name = (IDS NUMBER FROM DLL)
    ids_info = (IDS NUMBER FROM DLL)


    Step 2: Setting initial faction reps
    open Freelancer\DATA\initalworld.ini and put rep = 0, (and your faction name e.g. fc_n_grp). After every return for each faction modifying like you see done with other factions to choose how their empathy towards each other is set at.



    Step 3: Modify the empathy.ini file to make reputatin changes possible for faction
    Open Freelancer\DATA\MISSIONS\empathy.ini and add empathy_rate = (faction name), 0 to the bottom of every faction in the list. Modify to decide how they like dislike actions against other clan and against or for them.


    Next if your scripting copy this, if not just copy from inside the <source> tags...


    Step 4: Adding Detail to your faction
    This step sort of gives flavour and detail to your faction dictating what pilots, voices etc TThis is based off the zoners faction
    The Following goes in FactionProps.ini


    Ok, explanation of what these mean so you can change them.
    -affiliation is your faction nickname
    -legality can be lawful or unlawful (you can guess what it means)
    -nickname plural tells the game to ad an s to the end when saying their names s is added if "singular" is selected, if "plural" is there it does not... e.g. Zoner = singular.... Xenos = plural
    -jump pref can be jumpgate or jumphole (their jump preference, pirates tend to use jumpholes)
    -npc ship has something to do with their ships (their ship)
    -voice, costume and space costume can be chosen from the existing factions to dictate look and sound....(use existing voices as their voice in space)
    -firstname is the dll with like of first names
    -lastname is same as first except the last names


    Step 5: Modify EXE\mpnewcharacter.fl
    Open that file with the editor that was mentioned.
    Add house = 0, (Your faction) to the list and save the file...

  • you can use existing dlls and add the factions names there (namesresources.dll)

  • i think im doing last part wrong(step 5) cause my faction doesnt appear on fl explorer that or dill i dont understand how flse fits in or its the dill i cant figure it out
