The Tzenkethi are not known for making idle threats. They promised that they would return with better weapons, and return, they did. The Tzenkethi Red Alert is a space-based 5v5 Red Alert-style queue in the Alpha Quadrant. The Tzenkethi have found a new way to Protomatter-bomb planets and it’s up to you to stop them. The genocidal Tzenkethi will be unleashing a new super weapon at unsuspecting planets while you and 4 allies will have to do everything you can to prevent the catastrophic destruction. If you don’t work together, the deaths of billions will be on your hands. The event is for level 50-60 players of all factions. Like all Red Alerts, this TFO rewards 35 marks, and has no cooldown. It will be available from MArch 14th at 8am PT to March 18th at 10am PT. Good luck, Captains! It’s all up to you. Ryon “Melange” Levitt Staff Content Designer Cryptic Studios

The planet Pahvo has been a flashpoint of late, particularly after a recent trans-dimensional temporal event. Forces from the year 2256 (and two universes) have found their way to Pahvo through spatial aftershocks, and are hell-bent on conquering the enigmatic world. In Peril Over Pahvo, a new Featured Task Force Operation, five Alliance captains will deal with the invasion events in the Pahvo system. Temporally and dimensionally displaced fleets are closing in as Alliance forces scramble to implement planetary defense systems to safeguard the planet. Until those systems are in place, it’s up to a small group of ships to defend Pahvo from attack. This event will last for 3 weeks starting in March for PC players, and on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 in the spring of 2019. All players level 10 and above will be able to participate, and can earn a TFO Commendation once every 20 hours. Complete the

has released another update to his exciting

    Prophecy Unlimited

tech kit. The project helps form part of the high tech backbone behind well known projects like the Prophecy & Secret Ops Model Upgrade Pack. This iteration provides a variety of fixes, tests out some potential future features and builds in compatibility for further improvements by other modders. DefianceIndustries is planning to incorporate it into the next MUP, but you can get ahead of the pack and drop the new .dll right into your MPP install with the package

    here

    .

Ok new version which is being reworked a little inside. I'm releasing it now mainly to solve crashes people are seeing but also for development of MUP.

    Changes:

    • Fixed some incorrect offsets in Secret Ops CD, causing crashes when staring spaceflight
    • Replaced wcpunl.cfg with wcpunl.ini
    • Removed ultraNightmare
    • Added TurretRefireFromBulletIff default to 0

has put together a review of Wing Commander 3 for the 3DO. As you may have heard here a number of times before, the 3DO edition was more than a simple port. A number of aspects were streamlined & improved for consoles, including new missions, color comm VDUs and exotic weapons - as well as the inclusion of FMV missing from the PC release. Many of us are pretty used to seeing the DOS/Windows versions, so it's always kind of a treat to see the 3DO WC3 in action. Even just the HUD fonts, different loading clips, revised menu screens and revamped end credits are pretty cool. The review gives a lot of credit to the production values of the FMV. The quality of the in-game graphics and responsiveness of the controls also get nods. Check it out and see what you've (probably) been missing!

It's been a good week for console ports!

    SNES Drunk

has posted their review of Wing Commander for the Super Nintendo. There's a lot to like here, and the author enjoys the art style, background setting, branching missions and most aspects of the gameplay. They especially credit the contribution of the wingmen to the story as well as the impact of their permadeath. The complex controls come off as a low point, but the game has a hard task of condensing all the commands from the PC version into the small SNES dog bone. Overall this is a fair introduction to the game for retro connoisseurs - it's got over 24,000 views in less than a week, so hopefully a few of them are inspired to check the game out!

    We spotted a classy

    Italian WC3

last month, and this time here's an original Italian Wing Commander courtesy of

    Dennis Mull

. This is one of the European

    Hit Squad

rereleases, and in this case it was published by Jackson Libri. It came with a similarly stylized version of the manual/Claw Marks as well. We salute everyone going around collecting all these uncommon variants - there are tons of them out there and it can be hard to hunt them down!
