Despite his intense desire to rejoin the Great Link after five long years in deep space, Nuno waited until the last of his crew departed the ship. He watched the Jem’Hadar disappear into the base, followed by Adiss, his Vorta first officer, and then stepped out of the ship himself, running his lightly flaking hand along the hull as the hatch closed behind him. He left the Link all those years ago with a new mission, and a controversial one at that. He emerged with the goal of taking a small company of Vorta and Jem’Hadar on an exploration mission deep within the Gamma Quadrant. The Link roiled with conflict over the decision to designate an exploration vessel, and Nuno’s suggestion that he—a changeling—go along with them. He convinced them that his team could find great resources, new species to absorb into the Dominion, and even a planet suitable for building a new Link. A Vorta could

“Silent?” Kagran repeated the word at the viewscreen, but he had heard General Martok clearly enough. It was rhetorical. He was merely trying to buy time to process what he had just heard. “Yes, silent, captain.” Martok did not appear to either pick up on or care for the pointless inquiry. “In all my days Rura Penthe has been described with many words, but never silent.” Kagran understood Martok’s meaning, all too well. Rura Penthe was the most notorious penal colony in the Empire, if not anywhere. It was a product of the old ways, a testament to the brutality of the Empire, and a promise to betrayers. Its population consisted mainly of political prisoners, or those whose dishonor was so heinous they did not deserve a warrior’s death. Why would it suddenly go silent? As if sensing Kagran’s internal musing on the subject, Martok continued, “If the listening posts have gone silent then it is

ODVS' enhanced video packs are well known for boosting the visual quality of the movies for WC3, WC4 and Prophecy, but the audio is another undertaking unto itself. Owen made significant strides last year to upscale the footage for the Heart of the Tiger, but he was limited to what he had on hand. Requests have streamed in recently to add different languages, and ODVS has been happy to oblige after obtaining the corresponding language packs. As a result, we now have German, French and Japanese editions of the enhanced WC3 cutscenes to share! Note that these are just for direct viewing at this time - there is not currently any way to integrate them into the actual game, but they're all set in case fans eventually figure out a way to do it someday.

Foundry Spotlight: [AEI] In Silence The Foundry is a special program within Star Trek Online that allows users to make their own episodes, playable by other Captains within STO. To access it, open your Mission Journal, and select “Foundry,” at the top. Every now and then, we like to spotlight a particularly interesting or unique mission for all of you to experience. This time, we’re spotlighting “[AEI] In Silence” by Starfarertheta. In Silence is part of an initiative called the Alliance Exploration Initiative, created by fan podcast The Foundry Roundtable. The goal was to create missions based around exploration, not just combat. In Silence takes you on a mission to meet up with a very demanding ambassador, which quickly goes off course and becomes an exploration of a long-dead space station, full of interesting and wonderful surprises. I particularly enjoyed the dialogue choices in the

Jem’Hadar Vanguard Starship Stats & Abilities The Vanguard Fleet is the personal detachment of Dominion starships and soldiers that accompany the changeling known as Odo. As one of the few Founders with an affinity for life as a solid, he has been placed in command of this fleet in an effort to combat the re-emerging Hur'q threat. Odo's time spent living among solids has given him a greater degree of empathy and understanding for the sanctity of life, including those of his loyal Jem'Hadar soldiers. As such, he has commanded that additional resources and research be pooled toward increasing the Vanguard's technological and logistical superiority, with the purpose of ensuring a greater chance of victory, and reducing or eliminating Dominion casualties. All of the following starships are available now by purchasing the Gamma Vanguard Bundle, and will be available for in-game claim as soon as the

ODVS has another fantastic video sample to show off. After releasing his massive enhancement to WC4 and Prophecy video, he's continued to research and perfect the craft. This has produced some impressive results from the very low res WC3 footage, and even more advanced methods for manually improving video quality further have been discovered. The results from that testing have been amazing! Check out a new sample below. This one minute clip took several hours to produce, however, so ODVS is looking for feedback on how much an improvement fans think this is over the last release. Let him know what you think at the CIC Forums!

I've been experimenting with a new AI model and overall video workflow technique and I thought you all might like to see the results.

This new process is far more time consuming than the previous one. As well as the new AI model, I'm actually upscaling to 4K (2160p) then

The Palanquin’s bridge shook as panels sparked and instruments exploded, tossing her crew like ragdolls. The vorta First Officer, Adiss 5, had run the bridge efficiently and with a mastery of motivating the Jem’Hadar crew, but the Hur’q attacks had sent the ship listing hard to port, and Adiss went along with it. She would command this crew with her last breath, but, given her injuries, that didn’t seem all that far away. The Founder called Nuno entered the bridge with purpose, flanked by Jem’Hadar marines and with Adiss 6 in tow. By virtue of being a Founder, Nuno was afforded unquestioned command of the Palanquin, but he had come to think of his crew as a family over the long years of exploring together. He gave Adiss 6 a nod, and the vorta clone ran to her predecessor’s side and helped her up, brushed her off, and began to assist her to the medical bay. Nuno lifted his hands, formed
