has announced the release date for the next big update to the Secret Ops

    Model Upgrade Pack

. The new version will make its debut at the CIC 20th Birthday Party on Saturday, August 18! This should include the grand revamp of the TCS Midway, which we're all anxious to see. Looking out further into the future, there's been good progress on cockpit graphics. A sneak peek at the Piranha and Panther are included below. There's lots of great things coming!

Greetings MUP fans! So we have a date for the next release for the MUP. August 18. If that date sounds familiar it's because it coincides with the birthday party. So we'll be giving everyone a birthday present. In the meantime I'm finishing the Midway but I wanted to post some updates on a "nice to have" we've been tinkering with. A while back we looked at the possibility of adding real cockpits to WCP and SO, now that the open GL

Each week we’ll roll out a new reward for the Featured Episode “Home.” The first completion of this mission on an account this week will grant a Featured Episode Weekly Reward Box. This box gives your choice of an Enhanced Universal Tech Upgrade or a Captain Specialization Point Box, which gives the character who opens it a Specialization Point. The Weekly Reward Box, Tech Upgrade, and Specialization Point Box are all Bound to Account, and may be freely traded between your characters. The Specialization Point Box requires the opening character to be level at least 60. In gratitude for your efforts in helping them sate their need for the Ketracel precursor, the Hur’q have worked with Alliance engineers to modify the Phased-Waveform Beacon that was once used to attract them to the Founder’s home world. With a slight change to the beacon’s frequency emitter, nearby friendly Hur’q

Here's a peek at an interesting prototype of the Wing Commander Universe Map included with Wing Commander Prophecy. We first caught a glimpse of this during our 2012

    trip

to the University of Texas archive. While the

    final map

detailed many sectors where most of the main events happened in the series, this appears to be a little snippet that just traces through the events of WCP. Due to the number of differences, it appears to predate even the

    preview map

that was released online during development, which is pretty cool! Extra bonus: Pix, ace and LOAF posing Texas-style with George Oldziey's CD!

A spokesperson for the Cobra Wing has announced that its campaign to build a research outpost in the Ebor system has been enthusiastically received by the galactic community. Scores of pilots supported the campaign by delivering commodities to Morris Enterprise and eliminating agitators in Ebor, thereby ensuring the safety of traders.

A spokesperson for the Cobra Wing released the following statement:

"We want to thank all the Commanders who supported this campaign. We hope that the new outpost helps us communicate with our neighbours and achieve peace."

Pilots who contributed to the initiative can now collect their rewards from Morris Enterprise in the Ebor system.

When we reached out to Tobias Richter to convert his beautiful high resolution model of Deep Space Nine into a model we could use in STO, we were hopeful we could continue a relationship with him. Tobias is an artist of great talent and passion for Star Trek, and today we’re proud to announce we’re adding more of his work to the game. Tobias has modeled brand new, highly detailed models for both the Excelsior-class starship as seen in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country and the Excelsior-class Refit, as seen in Star Trek: Generations. Like past remasters, these new models are available for free to anyone who already owns an excelsior variant. They include options for the lit and unlit nacelles, similar to the original Excelsior models. Superfans of the Excelsior will know that when it initially appeared in Star Trek III: The Search for Spock, it looked a little different than how it

We are excited to announce the return of the Phoenix Prize Pack, which return to Star Trek Online on PC from July 18th at 8AM PT til July 25th at 10am PT. Just like Zefram Cochrane’s experimental vessel, the Phoenix Prize Pack blazes a trail into new frontiers! And, following in the model of its mythological namesake, the Phoenix Prize Pack also represents the return from the ashes of items, ships and other rewards that have been retired from Star Trek Online, and are no longer accessible by any other means. Purchasing and opening this promotional prize pack will offer players the unique opportunity of obtaining many otherwise inaccessible items, ships and equipment, which were previously available from events or promotions, or as other limited-availability rewards. (Check further below for complete prize information!) How it works is simple: Players may visit the Dilithium Store to purchase a

Today we'd like to officially announce our annual Birthday Party for the CIC's 20th Anniversary! This year we'll be observing the event on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 7:00 pm EDT (4:00 pm PDT and 11:00 pm GMT). We'll be celebrating two decades of Wing Commander community at wcnews.com, and we hope you join us! As usual, the day will be chock full of site updates, news stories, trivia and fun times! There'll also be one significant change this year. For the first time, we'll be transitioning the online party from IRC to Discord. A large group of Wingnuts has been testing out the program for over a year, and we'd like to invite you to join us there. Although the shift away from our trusty IRC server is bittersweet, there are some very cool advantages with Discord. The program makes it very easy to join on both PCs and via mobile devices, there's enhanced support for attachments and even
