Ship Launched Fighters (SLFs) are small combat ships that are launched from a host ship's Fighter Hangar. They are controlled by the host ship's pilot, NPC or a secondary crew member via telepresence. The following ships can equip Fighter Hangar: Keelback, Alliance Crusader_, Federal Gunship, Krait MkII, Type-9 Heavy, Beluga Liner, Type 10 Defender_, Anaconda, Federal Corvette, and the Imperial Cutter. Fighter Hangar can have three sizes (ship's internal slot lvl 5-7) which differ in amount of stored fighters and ability of how often you can release new fighter. You can have at one time in space only ONE fighter except if you use multi-crew (other player(s) will take control about SLF), then you can release TWO fighters at once.

There are 6 types of ship launched fighters, 3 Human and 3 Guardian_ - The human ones are the GU-97 Imperial Fighter (buy in Imaprial systems), the F63 Condor Federal Fighter (buy in Federal systems), and the Independent Taipan (buy in Independent systems). The Guardian_ ones needs first visiting Guardian_ area which is circa 700 ly out of the bubble and collecting there special micromaterials, which can be then used for unlock each fighter (via Guardian_ technology Broker service at some of High-Tech stations). Human's SLFs can have few different predefined loadouts, _Guardian's uses only one predefined loadout. You cannot change or upgrade SLFs or theirs equipment.

  • SLFs flight abilities comparison:

    Human_SLFs

GU-97 Imperial Fighter - Most manoeuvrable thing in the game, pitch rate of 78 degrees per second (for comparison, an Eagle_ with enhanced thrusters can get 65), yaw rate of 36 degrees per second, and roll rate of 144 degrees per second. In exchange for that manoeuvrability, it is extremely fragile with only 15MJ of shields and armour.

F63 Condor - Middle ground in manoeuvrability and toughness, pitch rate 53 degrees per second (54 for the Aegis F), yaw rate of 23 degrees per second, and roll rate of 115 degrees per second. 25MJ of shields and armour. Is the only fighter with the option for kinetic weapons, but it doesn't have a variant with fixed beam lasers. The Aegis F variant is used in the fighter training mission.

Taipan - Least manoeuvrable of the fighters, with a pitch rate of 40 degrees per second (41 on the Aegis F), yaw rate of 18 degrees per second, and roll rate of 88 degrees per second. Slowest fighter when not boosting, but fastest when it is. Toughest fighter with 30MJ of shields and 45 of armour. The AX1 variant is specifically for fighting against Thargoid ships and its weapons do effectively no damage to non-Thargoid ships.

    Guardian_SLFs

Lance Guardian_SLF Lance Guardian_SLF Lance - Hands down the Best Anti-Thargoid fighter. It can attack for high-spike damage at a safe range, and score devestating heart shots on Interceptors. Rail gun type weapon, limited ammunition.

    _
    _
    _
Trident Guardian_SLF Trident Guardian_SLF Trident_ - The Best "All Rounder" it can do a little bit of everything. Unlike the Plasma Repeater Taipan, the _Trident's plasma is TRUE ABSOLUTE DAMAGE which makes it particularly deadly in PVP if not dealt with quickly. Unlimited ammunition but relative low damage per shot.
    _
    _
    _
Javelin Guardian_SLF TJavelin Guardian_SLF Javelin - The best Big-Ship killer, functioning as a sort of Dive Bomber, with DPS unmatched by anything except large frag cannons, a skilled pilot can absolutely annihilate enemy ships by pulling close-in strafes, however the ship is not suited to attack Small and nimble vessels. The Javelin is also exceptional at dropping shields from range, as the shards have a 1.4KM Damage falloff (And a 1.4km max range) so pelting shields is always in its wheelhouse. Frags type weapon, heavy damage but limited ammunition.
