define "horrible"
and what are the FPS in space? -
Real smooth in space, no problems at all. When docked, doesn't matter if it's planet or station, like maybe 5 or 6 fps

have you already tried to reduce the detail grades on the options?

I have normal FPS on my historical laptop with integrated graphics card (Intel I3 CPU, 4GB RAM). There must be something else going on (local issue) since space was always much worse on hardware. There is only one FPS drop case which I know, and this is related to clan bases equipment room (when accessed equipment) due too many items available there.
