There's another exciting batch of Wing Leader updates this week! Howard Day shares the details in a trio of updates below. The cockpits themselves look more lived-in and vibrant with a variety of tweaks concerning inertia, reflections and even a cool bubbly fluid ball effect on the Kilrathi designs. There's also a neat new way that the engine handles first to third person engine transitions as well as a revamped logo for Howie's alternative to Origin Systems. New custom reticle for the Valtar, tuned the cockpit reflections, added some inertia to the pilot sprites, started adding a ton of sound effects, and did what I think is a pretty slick exterior camera transition. Lemme know what you think!

Wing Commander Academy's hospital ship is a real weirdo.

Academy had a real time crunch during preproduction and model sheets for capital ships were one casualty. That's why they reuse the same style of Kilrathi warship repeatedly (as a transport, carrier, blockade runner, etc.) and even use the Claw Marks art as ref a few times!

It's the end of an era, folks. The digital storefront for the Xbox 360 was shut down today, and along with that, the primary method to buy Wing Commander Arena has gone offline. We didn't really know what the interface would look like, which is why we made a video of it yesterday before things changed. The before and after are now displayed below.

The living "bing," "games," "movies & tv" and "apps" tabs are gone. "Home," "social" and "settings" remain. As expected, Arena seems to be fully playable and intact with online features. There is also a system features to change the themes and play downloaded videos. On the web side of things, Arena's marketplace site appears to now redirect to the general Xbox catalog.

Along with Arena, the Terran and Kilrathi Themes are now unavailable to purchase, and it does not appear that there is any way to seek out and download the game's three promotional
