The annual fan project of the year vote is (finally) happening and there's still time to make your voice heard! You can vote for your favorite fan project of 2025 below as well as the second entry in our Hall of Fame awards series. There was lots of incredible fan work this year so there's really no wrong answer. Winners will be announced March 15th (Wing Commander's first contact day).

    Fan Project of the Year

Wing Commander AllTinker Overhaul Mod - Origin couldn't do it... a generation of fans couldn't do it... but 36 years after the release of the original Wing Commander, AllTinker has done it! They've produced a beautiful patch that limits the game's speed and makes it function as it was intended to at release... along with plenty of other long, long, long overdue bug fixes! Mash's Patches - While AlLTinker is having success with the early games, Mash seems to have the later ones well under control!

The world premiere of the Wing Commander movie took place March 11, 1999 in Los Angeles and it's an event we've never seen much material from... until now! It turns out stock photo company Shutterstock is offering sixteen red carpet photographs taken by Alex Berliner that day showing the various celebrities that showed up to celebrate Wing Commander. Roughly grouped, they are: Beverly Mitchell, Clifton Collins Jr., Amanda Tosch, David Warner, Dule Hill, Ryan Aliso, Rachel Leigh Cook, Freddie Prinze Jr. and Kimberly McCullough (Freddie Prinze Jr.'s girlfriend at the time/potential ancestor of Sparks). These are the unmarked low resolution versions:

We've also preserved higher (but not full) resolution watermarked versions below if you want to get a closer look at any of this. If anyone has access to a Shutterstock account that includes the full resolution versions (or a ridiculous amount of extra money)

The good news is that the next (technically two) series of the Wing Commander Prophecy guide are already done! The bad news is that these four missions, H'hrass DL and H'hrass D, don't seem to have any secret spawns. That's because these missions have more specialized purposes: DL1 and DL2 are an 'easy' losing series intended to help boost players who have had trouble early on and who need a little more hand holding to grok space combat. D1 and D2 are pure plot; together they form the 'away' mission where Blair is lost at the abandoned relay station. For comparison's sake, H'hrass has only 74 total spawns compared to 236 in the preceding G'wriss series!

You can find the individual pages for the first series missions below.

    Heathens! Heretics!

The last time we saw CountvonSchnaps they were making some handsome cat fighters... and now they're taking things in a direction you couldn't have predicted! The good Count has now posted their take on another one of the Wing Commander universe's signature ships... Privater 2: The Darkening's famous Heretic! Amazing to see a Privateer 2 design re-interpreted like this.

Privateer 2: Heretic Medium Fighter (DeviantArt)

A (re)design of a well known medium fighter in Privateer 2 The Darkening... the Heretic Medium fighter. In use in the civilian market the fighter is in use by mercenaries, smugglers and pirates alike.

This commission was made for Heretic1311 and asked for a bronze blue color scheme and little to no markings... since the craft in question is in use by a privateer.

Fun design of a great game I enjoyed playing... already quite some time ago.
