the advantages of the LF only come into effect when you have a lot of tradelanes to go through, But in empty space with 100+k each system, it comes down to who can dock the quickest. And i can dock my train faster then some people can dock a VHF, LF, etc
taking a LF through nomad space can be dangerous, class 7 shield and weapons that only deal small amounts of damage.
the VHF wasn't ready. So it was LF or nothing.
