I was present at the top gun event tonight. Brilliant fight between Jack & Crysis for the tournament win. The best & longest I have seen. But it was disappointing in other ways.
It seems to come down to a battle between 'Laggs'.
I was hoping to see different ships fighting. I tried a Sabre without armour but had weight reduction mod. I hoped for more manoeuverability. This was not to be.
I Got creamed & rarely got a decent shot off. But then I'm no fighter (too slow & clumsy with the controls). This is not sour grapes as I expected little but fun from the event.
However I do have questions about the event. The best pilot should win most often. Therefore should not all participants have the same ship and same loadout?
Is it possible for this to happen?
Would players use it to try out new ships & weapon combinations? I can understand more experienced players who may have tried many ships but surely variety is the spice of life. Live a little die a lot.
I'll be there next week with a different ship I hope.

I have noticed may of you add your own images to your posts and 'clever comments'. How is this done? Is it part of the signature?

When attacked by NPC's you can see missiles and mines approaching and sometimed shoot them down. Is it possible in pvp (I don't have that much experience of pvp to have noticed).

I know the cataclysm & havoc are devastating missiles if they hit but which are the agile. Mosquito may be fastest but does little damage. anyone use any others are they more agile if less damaging? how quickly do they refire and what damage do they do?

what alliances do these clans have & are they pirates or when can we have an up to date list please. Im seeing what look like clan initials & have no idea what they mean? who are the galaxy rangers? Links above dont tell me about the clans themselves. That is the information needed. I don't want to jump around the various forums.

I took part in the top gun event for the first time. Thanks to Grey-Wolfess for the invite and cajoaling. It was a very good experience and I would encourage as many players as possible to take part in the future.
I was definitely 'confused' about the rules but will do better next time when I remember all the control buttons and not to panic.
Basically its a free for all last man standing fight. Any weapons permitted but no nanobots & shield repairs during the fights. When killed, you were permitted to reload for the next round, (do remember to dock on entry) details are on the server page.
I felt like a rabibit in a cars headlights. Excellent fun do join in. I hope to try more server events in future.
Thanks all who took part. -
missing the point i hate the race

will the mod have a hovis race bypass in sp? I find it the most irritating aspect of freelancer sp. Just get a decent cargo holding freighter and you have to race.

why is it a bad idea, explain

Think I'm ready to buy a fighter. Not sure which to buy? many players seem to use lagg. opinions please. Who do I ask too go to Sovetskaya?
-
Many players have multiple characters and time is often wasted in transferring funds etc between them. If the characters are linked to a freelancer account number would it be possible to set up a banking system to enable easier transfers? Could it be linked to the console system similar to setting bounties? Is it possible?

As pvp is banned in new york does this mean its a tax free system?

Currently I'm happily trying to earn enough cresits to buy a "Soul Train" . Then I can get some serious money. But what next? Do I buy a fighter so I can join in some events? Do I need enough credits so I can return and buy another train after my adventuring? I could join a faction/clan that would open up some clan systems.
The point being once I have the soul train should I earn enough credits so that I can replace it and any other ship and equpment I need?p.s. any point buying battleships or cruisers?

Over the past few weeks when the top gun event is on dk appear in New Berlin. At no other time have I come across them in Sirius space (except Sol) is this deliberate?
Is it a ploy to get me to enter a top gun event?
I would be pretty useless as I'm a ham fisted player and would only lose cash. I would like to try later but I need time to accumulate cash and experience first. Also a freighter would be a poor match agains the faster fighters. -
