I downloaded the xfire mod 1.9 yesterday and had a little look online. I was very disappointed that the whole screen looked blurred. the writing was virtually illegible. I have a 24 inch screen and should use 1920 x 1080 resolution. this is the only time i have come across the problem in freelancer. i tried changing the resolution in the game options with the effect of losing some of the launch bars etc. I do not wiash to get into editing the registry. Just wondering if any suggestions. its been a while since i played here. I would also like a suggestion as to why the xfire launcher seems to take over all my separate mod folders.

I have dloaded the crossfire mod 1.81 using DAP with & without acceleration on. however when i try install the mod i get an error message CRC mismatch. I run windows 7 ultimate 64k and have norton 360. Norton also reports a trojan when crossfire runs. I realise this is a false positive but need help in setting the permissions and resolving the crc mismatch error. I have cable internet and can dload at about 2mbs easily if not faster.

It's been about 2 years since i was active on the server and online. I have kept the faith playing freelancer and tried other servers and mods. Some I enjoyed and others were just not for me.
I have just spent a few hours browsing the forums and I see much is the same.
It seems ego gets in the way of playing a game far too often. RP is role PLAY, make it fun, its a game not serious.
Crossfire is a good mod nay even great and has lots I admire. I have my likes and dislikes about it, but as i am no modder nor programmer, just a load and hope it plays kind of guy I take what i can and run with it.
Personally I don't like the idea of clans and home systems and unique ships etc. I Like to explore a mod fully to try and buy what i like when I like without restriction. If I can dock I want to buy.
i usually end up running a freighter as my main char and use it to support others as will most players i guess. I enjoyed the server events when i could but was not part of the Asf Csf battles. Perhaps to my lack.
I was thinking of reinstalling CF1.7 but have my doubts now after reading some of the posts.
I don't mind being blasted by pirates i expect that as playing in an RP game. But I just find some argument petty and boring, they put me off rejoining as i may get involved in something i know little about. I ask as a plea, please sort out any differences like the adults we are supposed to be and lets see CF1.8 up and running.
I have to think seriously about rejoining the server and activating my old chars or starting new ones if they have been wiped {also have a new pc running windows 7 and had issues with acccounts and mp ID and may have lost old ones).
I dont know if this is the place to voice my thoughts on this particuar forum but it can be moved/deleted as your want. Me I just want to play freelancer on a server where i can try meet new people and get to know them via the game. thats the fun of online MP, oh and a bit of action now and again. looking forwards to reacquainting myself with some of you soon I hope. -
like many i am looking forward to the release of 1.8 however, I do have issues. I assume the mod will come with an autoupdate launcher. Does this also take over flmm like the 1.7?
will the mod fully install and delete wothout leaving the launcher etc?
I hop it will work with multiple installations as well. -
I'm sorry for not being on line for the last month or so. I have had a lot of work to do for school and need to use my time wisely. Thefinal straw came when my pc crashed. Its at the computer doctors at the moment. I am writing this message on my school laptop using a borrowed charger as mine has broken.
I do hope to be back soon but the timescale, I dont know, a very busy time to xmas and school insepctions to boot.
I may also have to invest in a new pc with Vista and all its problems i have read about on the forum.
I miss all of you especially getting thrashed in the top gun event. But I'll be back leaner and meaner. -
Thanks Simba for hosting the event. Considering the teams and it was my first time as a team leader, I think we performed very well. Max was to my knowledge our only recogcnised pvp star. A huge thanks to Max. Trojan was at his first event and virtually his first pvp. So a big cheer for him.[203] I hope he enjoyed it for what it was and doesn't take umbrage for his lack of kills. I'm pretty useless at pvp and darkchild disappeared. So overall I think we did very well. I'm not sure why Darkchild disappeared nor what was Radu's problem. Perhaps they can explain. It was exhilerating as usual and whats more I killed Simba maybe twice. [2] [550]

At present I am extremely busy with schoolwork. I will find it extremely difficult to get online for any decent length of time. I may be able to find a few half hour sessions. I do not want to lose my characters. How often must I play before they are removed from the server?
-
Having only played a few months I have enjoyed meeting people on the server. Those willing to help someone struggling.
I have played a few events. Love TDM & Top Gun. I usually get smashed in seconds as i am useless at pvp. but I keep coming back for more.
My favourite moment was the first time i joined the smuggler hunt. I hadnt a clue what was going on. I was a smuggler and actually reached the first base. I got lost and finally doom got me. Very exilerating at the time.
Hey its a game for fun and relaxation. I'm looking forward to exploring a few new systems (when clan members are not present).
I would like to master the controls without having to stare at the key board. Every day is an adventure when online. -
Unfortunately the summer break is over and its back to the grindstone for me. My time online will be very precious during the week, but hopefully at weekends I may make ammends.
It is therefore important that server events take place as close to the advertised times as possible. Unfortunately I will not be able to hang around. I do not really want to miss some of the events as I enjoy them immensely (even when I get smashed). I realise that organisers also have other lives and issues. Could there be bulletins if events are altered or delayed. This way I can make best use of my available gametime. Could server events be posted on the launcher at some point?
I only make these comments because all events need more participants to make them even more enjoyable and I am not denigrating any of the organisers. I may be being a little selfish. But I need to make the best use of my gametime.
Thanks for your support & help recently. -
wanted to join in but schools started & have lots of lessons to prep. therefore it is important for me that events could start promptly i cannot afford to hang around now unfortunately.
-
that would be much appreciated.

recently i asked in all innocence when would 1.8 be launched. I hardly expected the cascade of responces and have posted a reply for all to read at the end of that post .I have repeated it here (below).
I know nothing of the politics of running cf nor any issues affecting it. However it really worries me that a sense of community is being lost. This is a game enjoy it for what it is. It is not about egos. By all means get into your roles but remember thats all they are. Part of the game. The game must come first. This means All of the community & not just your faction, your characters, your position. We as a community need to attract more players. to do so we need to act responsibly to all.what did i start?
I ask a totally innocent question and seem to start a debate about something else.
I enjoy crossfire. I have had no problems with any characters I've met in fact most have been really helpful especially early on when I had just joined CF and had my doubts about it. CF is my first online rp game and it has been a positive experience to date. Patience and a willingness to communicate are key points to develop in the game. Progress up the levels can be slow. It may be helpful if more people explained to newcomers a little about how to progress. even how to communicate etc. It took me several sessions to realise how to use the chat command.
CF is a great mod and obviously is the result of a huge amount of time and effort. I respect the effort and skill in producing the mod. They are skills which I don't unfortunately share.
I have recently felt confident enough to join in some of the server events which have been exciting and fun. They have made me feel more a part of a community. It would be a shame if all the effort and general goodwill was lost due to a few innopportune and possibly hasty comments. I would ask that people think first and act second.
finally a plea 'i bear nobody any a grudge and mean no offence' but some of us need to do a little growing up. You are responsible for your deeds and actions. I would hate to lose the opportunity of experiencing the CF upgrade because of what has gone before, is ongoing or may be to come.
Op remember the majority of players support you in your efforts to provide a good experience in what is after all JUST A GAME !!! AND IS MEANT FOR ENJOYMENT.
EVERYTHING ELSE MUST COME SECOND TO THAT.
