Greetings OP! Can you clarify to me a few things about SUR files, answer a few questions I have about them?

SURs are surface files right? They are basically nothing more than the wireframe of a model? If so, you by chance know how can I create/export to a .SUR file from a program like per say, AutoCAD?

I've done some 3D solid modeling in my 15 years as a Draftsman and if there is a way I can help create SURs from my AutoCAD experience and knowledge, I'm sure it would be a boon to you guys. I dunno how much I would be able to pump out though.

Surely, I'd like to put my skills to use on a bomber prototype VHF Sam is working on.

    Anyway, thanks in advance!

Yea, you've read the Omega Wing manual Faaby, you know well that my battle plans anticipate for that to happen. It will make for much more interesting Inner Core missions again as I always enjoy having big, heavily armored static targets for us to destroy. :D It was quite a challenge back when destructible universe was still on-line to take down a Dom' base, as I remember an early SA IC mission last year we did that where I ended up leading it after Arrow's capital ship was destroyed, we only had like 10 or so fighters and it definitely took a while to bring that thing down!

Good times, lots of fun.

    3. A new torpedo designed against Dom batteship's huge hulls (stronger than sunslayer, less limitations than coalition, possibly slower accuracy/speed for balance and not be ultimate weapon for PvP)

Even if not possible, it is alright to dream, right? ^^

THIS. Bomber VHFs are a real area of lack in Crossfire, I have ideas within my clan's specialized attack wing (Omega Wing) to utilize them more effectively in groups with standard VHFs and "gunship" VHFs, but due to the lack of capacity of torpedoes for extended use in the field (read: Inner Core sector) and/or weak damage output against Inner Core alien capships, they are almost next to useless IMHO. For torpedoes to be actually useful, each launcher really needs it's own capacity. More variety and specialty would be welcomed as well, like EMP torpedoes or "cruise missiles", i.e. seeker torpedoes.

Also, Capship Killer class VHFs like the Elder(we need more of these too) and the use of MKII codename weapons have somewhat helped address the Bomber issue, but still it's not the most effective solution. Crossfire needs better bomber weapons and better bombers to make them more viable to where people will actually want to use them, namely against capital ships. They are a great deterrent against capships and when setup in a wing structured like the SA's Omega Wing, they are actually quite effective. But this is ONLY WHEN they have proper backup and support.

Thanks guys, I'm glad you're all enjoying it!

    @ Huor: Thanks dewd!

@ Myric: Nah, just actually glad to be finished with it, I had intended to update it and be done with a month ago, but unforeseeable setbacks pushed back another month... D'oh. :(

@ Bond: Yes I got your PM, thanks! :D After seeing the weird "artifacting" that text style does when I export it to PDF format, I'm getting rather tired of that font. Re-doing the entire manual with a different font was proving to be massive pain in the rear orifice though,(was trying to redo it with Arrow's font style from the SA Member's Guide) so for time's sake, I left it as is. Maybe when 1.2 gets released, I'll properly address this and finally redo it with a new, more legible font.

@ OP: YES, I would imagine so. :P:D Again, you have higher priorities to deal with, this project is whenever you decide to mess with it in the future. (and thanks for your help when you do)

Silver Arrows Laboratories (SAL) publication release:
XENO-SPECIES AND VESSELS RECOGNITION REPORT AND FIELD MANUAL, ver. 1.1

Today, version 1.1 of the Silver Arrow Laboratories Xeno-Species and Vessel Recognition Report and Field Manual has been released, for all Sirius and Altair sector pilots! This has been a major project under direction of the SAL General Supervisor, Rear Admiral Ryleous Arkane, callsign "ORION" and the past months have been devoted to updating this manual alone. Rear Admiral Arkane states: "The first release of the Xeno Field Manual was a incredible effort and garnered incredible positive response across the Sirius and Altair sectors. A proper update and addition of new information and data was duly deserved, albeit time-consuming, but again, well worth the effort! Today I am happy to release version 1.1 to all Sirius and Altair pilots to aid them in their survival in the harsh theater of the Inner Core sector and where ever else aliens are found." Rear Admiral Arkane also states that is just the first of the important information that the SAC is now de-classifying and sharing to the public at large through Silver Arrows Laboratories publications.

The Xeno-Species And Vessel Recognition Report And Field Manual is now available in PDF format HERE via the SWAT Portal download section.

Silver Arrows News - SAL Xeno Guide ver. 1.1 Release

Greetings Soberlyfe420 and welcome to Crossfire!

While a new ship will certainly help in your quest against the NPCs, the simple fact is this:

Even with a good ship, it is still no guarantee of success, you must utilize new strategies in taking down the harder, much more difficult NPCs of the Crossfire mod.

My first suggestion is to make sure you have some good shield busting guns, you will never hope to penetrate their hulls if cannot get through their shields and usage of shield batteries.

Secondly, the controls of Crossfire have been expanded and are much more important now, namely with your engine kill (drifting, i.e. Newtonian movement), reverse/full stop, your afterburner and of course, your strafes of which you now have all 4 directions, left, right and now also up and down. Master these controls and you will make yourself a much harder target to the NPCs and in turn, hopefully increase your chances of kills.

Lastly, there are all new level 10 guns and high-end weaponry in this mod, of which most of it is rather difficult to procure, but well worth the effort to find and mount on your ship. Some of it you will be able to buy in places like on Earth in the Sol system or in Coaltion space, some of it you will have to find in wrecks like in the Yakutsk system or from the destruction of alien ships in the Inner Core. Take note, most of the places you have to find this weaponry, namely in the Inner Core will be against some of the most vicious and difficult NPCs you will have ever faced. Watch yourself out there and if you're playing online, get someone to fly with you to help improve your chances of survival exponentially.

    Hope this helps! :thumbup::D

YAY! The pizza "trap" worked! :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:

We missed teh Grand! Well... maybe a little... ;) No-homo bro... :D Welcome back man, your clanmates, your allies and your friends were all a little concerned about ya being gone so long Grand!

Good to know you're alright and nothing serious has happened. Holla at me if you need any PC help man!

Cook a pizza and leave it out in space in the Nephele system?

I'm sure Grand will come running then... ;):D LOL, j/king!

Seriously though... Vishnu, Dino, Avengarde and all other active UR should have a meeting to discuss possible succession of leadership or at least decide on an interim clan leader until Grand shows back up.

There's a reason why I'm Arrow's FO (first officer). When he's out for personal reasons for any length of time, I'm put in charge. (most senior member and next highest ranking officer, aside from Forlon) Not that I really want the job, to be honest... 8| Being a clan leader is alot of responsibility, especially one as organized and structured as the SA.
