3a. if xp sp2: to check if ur system is working on multi-proc settings (doesn't have to b multi-proc rly, cause hyperthreading does the same thing on some configs): device manager, processor (how many); if u have more than one proc listed, take a look at task manager and see if u can select afinity for apps; reinstall cf using guide but do not start the game, just report what u did and findings about proc and afinity back here,
3b. if vista: run everything using 'run as administrator' command from app's context menu, following the cf guide instructions, try running the game and updating as stated in the guide, report if u had any success.

do not install 1.1 patch, sdks or anything similar.

sorry, gunny, that's not true.

1. 1.7 is far from new, it's even older than 1.7a.
2. 1.7a doesn't change anything really, cause things it changes get overwritten by update process anyway. 1.7a is simply made to fix the bug ppl using certain windows regional settings were having with launcher, nothing else.
3. crashes in sol r hardware/software related and can't b fixed without making sol very small. some ppl have them some don't, and they happen sometimes, sometimes they don't, depending upon mood of the fl engine on a particular hardware at a particular moment.

maybe op will b so nice to delete that previous account on server, so u can use the same name again... but u'll have to ask him really nicely.

it would b best to give tlr to swat and incorporate those guys here... finito. but, that's not gonna happen in my wildest dreams, so... anyway.

hmmm, i am not sure op would like the idea of additional patches made available for so many ppl, but just don't make it public, and it might b ok.

on the other hand, u must have done something to fix ur game, cause game would not have been fixed on its own. r u sure u didn't add anything from those instructions magnet and i posted? restart could help, but it doesn't really count much, cause in the most of system configs restart would do little for fl, cf or both. well, maybe ur case was unique in that way.

ok, dante, this should fix ur issues, if u r having dual core processor. just follow the instructions carefully and do everything mentioned.

1. plz, try to run vanilla fl and report when u do. however, before that, plz try cf sp. fly at least 30min if it does work, just to b sure. if it works just fine, plz just get back here.
2. also, if u didn't yet, install dx9.0c 11.2007 version.
3. installing all microsoft xp sp2 patches is not always a clever idea, cause many of them cause compatibility issues, but lets hope that's not it (but it might just b, gooosh i hate ms).
4. plz, state ur config, anyway, at least basicly: mobo, proc, graphics, sound and specialties if u have any.

lets clear some things 1st:

1. do u have any issues in regular fl (sp) or in other games?
2. when dx dialog shows, does the client break completely, so that u have to start it again, or u can alt-tab to it?
3. it may b u r another user with unstable computer config. plz, state ur configuration.

well, they r voidanians. they have relatively active membership, and that's nice, but i don't know how comitted they r gonna b to cf. but i will not judge them prematurely, as i love the idea of ppl adding to our little community.

there r many ppl from my language region, so i will finally have some more ppl to speak with on other languages. also, i saw turion (newest tlr co-owner) is a member, if i am not mistaken.

that concludes my simple observation for now.

@op, maybe u should plan upgrading to ie7.

the next thing on our mental advancement is to strip the habit of going to tlr, path to the goal of forgetting it. (well, i already did, but i do tend to do thing 1st always...)
