windows 2003 server x64 is almost as the same as windows xp profesional x64 in it's crappiness of compatibility with drivers and software. but anyway, if u think u will have no issues, i'm ok with that.

win defrag is not ms product. it's a lite version of some early version of diskeeper, and is quite crappy version of diskeeper, but does the job in most cases (not if u r a real perfectionist, thou, and u r, op).

anyway, here's what i have found to b good selection of reviews some time ago, and it has my vote.

now, it's up u to choose. jkdefrag is my choice too, but i like diskeeper better than o&o defrag, thou perfectdisk is the best commercial software imo.

ok, i guess there is not problem to get ur version of cf to some ppl... to fix the issue of extra downloading and getting it work.

but, u will not b able to play cf mp on lan. for that u need server version of the mod, and that's not really public, but u can ask op, maybe he'll reconsider it (not very likely).

anyway, it seems restart did fix ur installation then, and maybe some magic too. :D

ok... those x64 versions of pre-vista windows r... lacky. and vista is not really a choice. but i guess it will work just fine.

how about defragmenter? gonna use the one from windows? it's ok, imo, not too many options, but does defragmenting (and has less trouble with locked files, moving them too, if possible under certain circumstances; like swap file).

    yeah, it is possible, too.

dante, check that ur mod file is 195.8mb. but my guess is that problem is something else, cause cf installation would report error then. imo, it's flmm setting for fl folder, installing cf in the wrong one, and possibly flmm's misbehavior on multi-proc system without the patch for windows, performing activation a bit lacky (cause it doesn't support multithreading).

just try my last instructions. and report. i am sure it will work.

    hmmm, let me check.

yep, it see that's the only issue, nothing else is broken, as ppl report from ingame. :D

congratulations on transfer to new great piece of equipment! :]

server is working, and u r not reading what i already wrote, m8:

note: u did everything as u should have done the 1st time, it's just u didn't see EULA policy confirmation window because it got minimized, thus causing ur edit1... ahhh.

if the game doesn't start again, take a look at taskbar and there u will see eula confirmation window, accept, update and voila!

ok, if u have backup of the cf before the crack, whether it has now cf1.7a freelancer.exe or cf1.7 one, just copy it back and start the game. copying freelancer.exe file should b enough, if crack didn't change other files.

btw, game worked with a crack, yes, but not quite (since u have overwritten launcher with cd-crack, which is highly incorrect). freelancer.exe in cf is launcher, not the regular freelancer.exe file, which is renamed to something else.

i hope this is the end of ur case finally. the more u try to fix the issue urself, the more u kill the game. if this doesn't work again, because of whatever, just plz reinstall everything.

3rror, m8, what u did with that crack thingy messed it up completely... ahhh, m8.
now u have to install it all again... hmm, no, just install 1.7a patch now, it will get things back to proper way. so, u need to do next (after ur 2nd edit):

    1. install 1.7a patch (to ur freelancer folder ofc),
    2. start using regular shortcut,
    3. let the game update,
    4. start the sp,
    5. exit the cf fl,
    6. start using shortcut,
    7. let it update once more,
    8. start mp,
    9. enter server.

    plz, no cd-cracks!

note: u did everything as u should have done the 1st time, it's just u didn't see EULA policy confirmation window because it got minimized, thus causing ur edit1... ahhh.

it seems i will need to open a special support line for all u guys. just to avoid keeping u wait. sorry for the delay. if u wish, contact me on msg (there info on my profile) this weekend so we can have it done without wait.

ok, let me see what u have done till now.

    1. yes, u need the multi-proc patch, plz install it, according to the instructions from the link.
    2. 1.7a patch is not needed, but will not do much harm anyway, just let it update a few times before entering mp. anyway, the rule is that if 1.7 updates without error activating mp button on launcher, u can skip 1.7a patch with no fear.
    3. there's a problem in ur installation, because u r using different paths; plz, uninstall and delete everything again, and install again (using ur paths if u wish) just b sure to install freelancer 1st and flmm 2nd. that way flmm will acknowledge ur fl folder correctly, which it doesn't do if u install it before fl (guide doesn't comprehend advanced users and installation on differents paths, unfortunately, but it was written for typical users in the 1st place),
    4. before u install cf mod as the last one in the process, plz check fl directory setting in flmm (options menu), and turn off read-only option too. then proceed and i think ur troubles r gone away. let it update, start, set the options in cf fl, exit, start again, let it update, enter mp, enjoy life. :D

btw, because u seem like a nice guy, i would like to stay in touch with u regardless ur problems r finito. msg is my prefered contact, just add me if u use it. and c u online. :]

y not using standard windows defrag tool? it does the job. it uses windows scheduler too, so it's the best solution when it comes to compatibility.

if u have some good reasons, plz state them, cause, m8, there r only a few defragmenters for x64 version of windows and even those few r not so good.

it would have been much better if new server's os was based on x86 version rather than x64, regardless of processor, just because of compatibility. is there no possibility to ask for x86 version of system? it will run just the same on new server's hardware (maybe a bit slower, but not so much to b important or noticeable), and considering compatibility issues, it might b much better.

i have similar situations: my business partners usually buy new hardware to upgrade their network productivity without checking with me 1st (because they manage to get bargain prices somehow) and i am forced to reinstall windows back to x86 version just to keep compatibility checked, cause i don't want to deal with compatibility. moreover, difference in speed is unnoticeable, and there is no other reason for using unfinished and lacky x64 windows xp or 2003 instead of regulars. vista is out the question most of the times, ofc, but it's x64 version is ok comparing to earlier stuff.

i would suggest to switch to x86 at all costs if u have the possibility.
