i am using an avatar that is png picture, but since this forum doesn't allow pngs i renamed it to jpg (it was simplier that converting it, and i didnt lose any quality by doing that), so i would like u ppl to check if my avatar is viewable on ur browsers and that it makes no trouble.

usually a browser should display it fine, no matter it says jpg, and still is a png image, but i have heard firefox could have some troubles. it would b nice to know if i should convert, or it is just fine as it is.

    tnx, m8s.

i had thought that multichar logic is not much of a logic then i first started this game, but i disagreed with myself very soon, especially when i got into rps and clan membership.

multichar logic gives us freedom in planning our free time and how we spend it on cf. as many have already said, it would b dull, boring and will takes us much more time to play cf using onechar logic, which i do not doubt will get number of online players smaller very soon. and it may have impact on rps imo we will not be able to deal with.

onechar logic could be useful if we had enormous community, but op can confirm that there is no more that twenty players online anytime, so we don't have it. it would require at least a full server, or maybe more, to make game not suffer consequences of onechar rules i stated up.

i do think that onechar logic could help in a overcoming idea of single rp clans (which i don't like much, smuggling should b free to both mercs, pirates and freelancers, as it's quite natural for a pirate, a mercernary and a freelancer to smuggle; cops on the other way should not do it, their rp is full of jobs already catching both pirates and smugglers and fighting mercs), and it may bring up the value of smuggling rp and clans. still i consider these benefits as a trade off to consequences that might arrive as soon as we impose such a rule.

at the end, we could try it out, and test it, it might work well, but before such a rule is implemented for testing we should all agree for a test run, or ppl will be angry and in no doubt i consider problems will arrive.

for the sake of what i think, we dnt need a singlechar rule, and it will just makes us all more bored with the game.

plz, ppl, consider ur desicion on this issue a quite important one. u all see that op is split opinion, so we might all get ourselves behind a closed door.

    i vote no.

i dnt think that will happen. still a simple patch of hosts settings and alternative server could make a deal. with enough advertising, imao.

imo too hamachi is not a solution. it might work, but installing another piece of network software is always a bad solution for this kind of trouble. not that i dislike hamachi network. i use it myself, and find it quite good piece of software.

there is no solution to my crappy conn problem, either from getting to future (and hoping there will be a cf server still online) or changing my country of residence.

i'm used to it, it will get better eventually, and 4 now i have my piece of good time on the server, so i dnt bother it doesnt work equally good during the whole day. i have 2 sleep sometimes 2. :)

lol, sorry, my bad. will edit it. :)

i do have a color syndrome... dnt really know how it's called in english, but i didn't make the mistake because of it. i was just thinking about something else and wrote green instead of yellow. :)

ppl make mistakes. i am no different. what does count is one's intention. :)

there r many possibilities, i agree, but ppl mostly find out about servers from the server listing. and this is how community gets new players.

so, if we r not going to get microsoft sell the dns entry for the global server, and i guess that isn't so much a possible outcome, what would b other solution? make a patch for the ini hosts setting and advertise it as much as possible online? and who will pay such a hosting...? it might help, but still a bunch of newbies will not b able to figure it out.

it's a solution, ofc, but how about others? r there any?

    ok, nice. :)

can u tell me something about the whole idea? how do u plan to bypass global server? anything...?

i know what hamachi is and how it works (i am using logmein's products as a computer professional), so u can get deep into the theory.

    yup, that was it.

well, fl does show u have a bad connection by blinking both a yellow (not so bad) and a red (quite bad) connection signs.

norton can be set easily on vista so it makes no troubles to cf. norton is not a serious problem. it has quite enormous protection capability, which has to be set correctly in anyone's case, tuned to desires one has, but other than that, norton is good piece of software.

serious problem is a combination of newest directx and newest graphic card drivers. this can make troubles, but i did succeed in fixing them so far, so i dnt think u guys should have serious problems.

and yes, keep away from directx 10, and try not to use 100+ series of nvidia drivers, at least until for a few months more, is a general suggestion i can give u.

when it comes to fluctations, they dnt really mean much, but it is better to have a smaller value, like 0, ofc. :)

sp can use fluct value to consider u a rules breaker, because fluct can indicate u r running a p2p or other dl/up heavy application while playing cf, which is forbidden.

about a packet losses, well, if one is not living in some crappy parts of world (w/ bad internet infrastructure) losses should b 0. or at least not more than 2. but it can happen from time to time that u get packet loss, as to very next moment connection fixes itself.

if u r living in a crappy parts of world (or a really distant ones from germany - where server is), u may have packet losses greater than acceptable. this will mean u cannot have a decent pvp in game, and that some ppl could see u as if u had a teleport device (and there is none in fl), jumping from points to points on map. also, every server dependant action (like dock, jg/jh, lanes) could get seriously lagged.

i come from a very crappy country, so i do experience packet losses, and while it happens i mostly only chat docked at the plt somewhere, or i make trade runs, with no pvps. i found that cf server can accept up to 30 packet losses and still b able to consider a connection stable one (not breaking, so u have to log on all over again). but i suggest that anyone with connection in 10+ packet losses turns cf out and gets back l8r, when there is less trafic in region's internet infrastructure (mornings, night, afternoons).

i hope this helps anyone. :)
