    man, do u really have trouble finding tx prisons? my 8yo sistem found them while playing... they r not even hidden in a cloud, asteroid field or anything alike.


    i hope u get ur grip and find them on ur own.

    try using /ping command in chatbox as soon as u get online. if u r getting any losses (the 2nd number) or ur ping is too high (1st number, more that a few hundreds) ur connection to server is bad. u can blame ur distance, peak hours, isp or net settings. if nothing helps, u could try playing off-peak hours, like during the night or early in the mornings.


    not much u can do else, except getting ur net connection a little better.

    moty 2007 competition is going to end in a few days, thus creating a publicity for both top 5 and top 100 mods and indie games again. we could use some help getting cf page dressed up before this happens, so plz revisit our mod db cf page, and help in any way u think u can.

    i have just been loading tlr page (because it was offline for more than once in previous weeks, wanted to check if it does work), just to see there is no more cf banner on banner list, nor swat's logo.


    there's a link in forums to swat's forum (stating it as cf forum), but i haven't been able to find much more than that.

    i would hate to see cf server close down. i have spent too much time on it and became a somewhat connected to it, connected to the whole community... i even started advertising it on serbian game forums and playing my friends into giving it a try. i can only hope op will not do anything similar to cf closure.


    what we have here is rp roles pushed into rl. op, leave both cfpd and smg to do their bickering ingame, and enjoy watching it, but don't take part in dealing with it without concrete proofs on concrete situations, because it's just rp getting to rl, and nothing more. smg and cfpd members r quite different kind of persons and they cannot stand each other, but that's the way it goes with every single relationship between humans. the same goes for other clans as well, and we r all mostly like children when it comes to that.


    i am a member of smg, and i am member of smg because of freedom of choice and democracy built into it's life, and i respect that more than anything. others might not. not a big deal. however, it has nothing to do with me taking sides here.


    op, i use my own suggestions: i simply watch cfpd and smg bicker at each other and i remain apart from it as much as i can, playing my own game, respecting my clan and having a great time in this crazy community.


    there's none like it on entire world and we should preserve that for our own sakes.


    let's just sit down and watch ourselves while we live lives in a simulated futuristic world, and make our own decision how that world should look like tomorrow when it's not gonna b a simulation anymore.


    imho, op has enough info to investigate the whole cheating matter, and this topic should b closed.

    ppl, u must understand that freelancer is UDP software, not a TCP one. there is a distinct difference between those two, and in simple terms it can b explained as: server doesn't wait for packet acknowledgment from client, since it doesn't have to deal with such information, because of engine architecture. typical TCP is starlancer multiplay, and ppl who played it know what means to have a bad conn while on it.


    therefore, fl server doesn't suffer from bad connections of certain players, even if there r many of those ppl (which r not in todays technology surrounding). yes, server could crash if there r many ppl with conn problems, but we r speaking in terms of 50 ppl getting packet losses at one time, and that doesn't happen on any fl server today, nor i think it had happened ever.


    so, let's not confuse server crashing and u seeing ppl fly all around u with no sense. lag/ping problems affect only gameplay, ppl running from one spot to another, missile/torps/mines tracking and similar issues, not server stability, at least not on a greater scale such a crash is.


    those server's crashes we experience happen because of a third reason, and we should realize that, not to spam this thread anymore by lag/ping issues.


    anyway, it may b that sol has some architectural errors that make fl engine blackout when it experiences ridiculous messages from a certain client, like: i'm in a planet and dks getting on me is too (because some wh in sol push ships to planets before they turn on to warp; op u should check that - witnessed many times, mizi was in that situation today twice when server crashed; on 2nd crash we were the only ones online), or i'm in a trade lane still while i am docking earth. there r a few other situations that r unique to sol and could affect server stability in a great way, since server doesn't know how to respond to such crazy situations.


    ofc, fl engine is not perfect. it may just b that sol is too huge for engine to comprehend all calculations for multiple players in it having dks on them, and it crashes as a result. this would b a fl engine flaw and we could not do anything about it, except getting sol a bit smaller and with fewer details (and if u ask me, that would b downgrade, not an upgrade). imo there is a smaller possibility crashes happen because of such flaw and i think problems result from architectural errors.


    i have a few more theories, some involving fl engine and some not, but i will not speculate on those until i get more info. anyway, op, i hope this information will b of use to u, and i will continue reporting exact time of the server crash.


    imho it would b good if others behave similarly if possible.

    what do u think about W0dk4's workaround, op? is he trustful and could we use this solution as a starting base, or u like luova's replacement we host better for now?

    not only cf is not cs, but there isn't any quality software for cheating in fl, at least not one that would work in cf without major programming skills.


    calling problems of different pings and lags for cheating is what we have here, imho. u can't defeat somebody who has better connection to server, since the whole trouble is about information channel. it was stated many times till now. and ofc, there is something called skill.


    why do ppl lose nerves over something like this is beyond my skill of understanding.

    i know u can't do much about it, m8, but i am reporting just as one of infos u could use for fixing it.

    anyway, i have a theory, and if i get to a certain conclusion, will report it.

    this is a report stating server breakdowns for today:


    1. 10 am gmt
    2. 10:20 am gmt
    2. 11:20 pm gmt


    all times r approximate.
    today is sol run, many sol activities.


    op, please use this infos to make something about this issue.

    ofc there r cheaters, but from the folks around here, i dont believe anybody cheats. it would require greater programming skills, which small number of ppl possesses here.


    on the other hand, there is no real ground for motivation of cheating, since we don't have wars, nor we have ppl that need proving themselves better than they r, because they have none to prove that to and against whom.


    so, it's simply ridiculous.

    exe2 folder is temporary folder made for updating and game running. it should not exist unless u have game running, because it gets deleted every time u exit the game. the only way u can have it while game is not running is by error, crashing of fl client, thus not performing the delete action. but, another start would even fix that, luckly.

    well, it seems so. flmm cf mod files should not stay at exe dir. it's better now, anyway.
