    heeh - if you wanna debate again about how wheightless space can be - then first go test it yourself ^_^. Save up some money, get an underwater fireworks rocket and fire it from the deepest pool you know. That is called a real life simulation and believe it or not, you will get 90% the same results as you would in space.


    NASA does the same - thats how they train for space missions, underwater.


    Other than that, we must remember CF is a game ^_^, too much realism will make it dull :P - however newton's gravity law in it would be cool :)

    OP just out of curiosity, since your doing such a WOW job on this project of yours. Have you ever considered taking your work to Blizzard? :D You'd get a spot in next gen design's just like that ^^

    Clouds on pic 1 and 2 look the as if they are on the same spot and OP took both at different spots, so I don't think they are, but I could be wrong. Maybe OP has a 4.0 on the way ^_^


    Edit: Seeing as Manhattan is getting a extreme-makeover, are other popular planets like California, los Angelas, Leeds or even New Berlin also going to get a make-over?

    Atleast, unlike 3D realms, OP didnt go silent on cf.18 for 6 years. ^_^ Thats correct, since day one of announcing cf1.8 many moons ago, OP has been giving allot of changelogs AND screenies AND vids. And lets not forget that he does he's work with the most awesomeness of awesome that there is. For just a few people working on a mod that is THIS BIG and COOL, its just amazing.


    I bet that if you show this to sites like gamespot and gametrailers ones its released, they'd surely put you in some great show with them :D

    Hmmm - from what I read here, I suspect lack of communication, as I too are wondering why a server for 1.7 will be needed oO. I suppose people would want to try the 1.7 server out every now and then.....or not since 1.8 will include past things.....some of them...i think?

    Secondly...@ Huor - me be nub when it comes to the language you spoke there. You sound like a techie, could you explain to me step by step what to do? if you've been in vista then it should be easy :).


    EDIT: I hope this bumps the thread so someone can reply to me exactly what i need to do to fix this somewhat minor problem.....I dont need this fix BADLY but it would be nice to have normal text that is easier and faster for me to read.


    If I dont get a reply soon then ill post it in a place everyone could possibly notice.

  • CF 1.7 in Windows 7 (possible fix to be included in cf 1.8?)

    OK so i installed cf 1.7 absolutely fine on windows 7, it runs perfectly fine and even the 3d sound option doesnt kick crash my game anymore nor do I have wierd connection problems anymore.


    The only problem I have is a minor text problem oO



    Sooo yea, that seems to be the only problem i have in windows 7 so far.


    P.S. windows 7 is now a RC addition, aka, Release candidate. Basically its a word that describes a major world wide beta. Windows 7 is absolutely free till next year when they announce the final release of it where it will be sold.


    So far windows 7 hasnt been giving me any problems, im starting to get convinced windows 7 is the new XP/vista - it rocks ^_^.


    Anyways, back to the topic at hand......what must I do to solve the problem at hand?

    well - the total bad news is that I have not succeeded in installing windows 7 - I couldnt get the damn thing written to a disc and boot from it :(


    Guess I wont be testing it on windows 7 ..... Oh well, back to XP ^_^

    Yep - apparently while I was at the 600 man lan party this weekend, I mustve gotten one mother of a virus. It infected my entire systems 32 folder. Luckily my D drive wasnt harmed so I can easily backup.


    Anyways, seeing as I have no choice but to format, I will install windows 7 tonight and thus I wont be around till tomorrow at the very least :). I hope that this will work out nicely.


    AT OP: I will give feedback of CF's performance and results on windows 7, dunno if its been done yet but I have a feeling it will be much better in windows 7 than in vista. lets see if im correct :).

    Bump noticed. So I am willing to find sometime to chat with you and then ill compile a massive thread which you can sticky for 1.8 on its release or also as 1.7. I have had allot of different problematic encounters with CF that I have solved in the end and this request would mostly be collecting data from previous threads imo.

    Sounds interesting - but with everyone firing lazers and rockets being nearly unmissable in 1.8 due to the new graphics amount added, why would tracer fire be needed? oO


    Unless Bullets are made as new weapons systems (yes real fast bullets) I think the only thing it would do to current shots are make em longer.

    had the same problem - however for me it was in multiplayer not single. A complete clean reinstall of freelancer AND CF fixed it for me. simply backup your saved games first though and don't repaste them when cf is installed :)

    OK i cant enter space at all lol - so im going to try a complete re-install.


    Question out of curiosity - will 1.8 also have similar problems where several re-installs is needed? -_-"


    Sounds harsh to ask that but its really getting annoying to try and get this to work.


    Edit - Update: A simple complete re-install did the trick. a file must've gotten corrupt or something leading to the re-install. Cyall in space ^_^
