OK, finally I have read this entire thread; I suggest that people concentrate on wrecks that were not character-limited to test for the drop randomizer. From what I remember, the only such wrecks are the Kusari & Rheinland BS wrecks in Oasis & Sea of Shadows, respectively, and the Coalition wrecks in Tomsk & Yakutsk. These wrecks could formerly be looted repeatedly by the same character (after server restarts), and always dropped 84 units of cardamine & 2 pair of Class 10 codename guns each (BS's only), or a single turret (Tomsk), or a pair of missile launchers (Yakutsk).

As far as I can remember, all other wrecks in the game can only be looted once per character, so I suspect that anyone who has attempted to loot wrecks since 1.82 has now lost the ability on those char's to loot the same wreck again. I have purposely refrained from attempting to loot most wrecks with the last couple of characters I created, to make it possible to revisit those wrecks after the problem is found & fixed. Good Hunting, everyone!

you can moor at more than 80 stations and planets

:whistling: I only counted about 66, but even this is already too much, IMO. From a "logical" point of view, the smaller "Benford"-class stations would be replaced by the shipyards for capital ship mooring. This is more than adequate for trader/smuggler RP, except that it would be nice to have a second moor in Altair, and at least 1 in Inner Core for capital warships.

Well Ty, just remember where you got your tactical wings, learning to fight here @ Crossfire! Modern games become more engrossing as they get more sophisticated, and as computing power increases, but this rule also applies to Crossfire :D When you get a better 'net connection, come by and pay us a visit, and see if you still have the chops to hang with the best! Good Flying!!

Well, OP expressed a desire for new quests, but there wasn't a specific place on the 1.9 boards yet, so here it is!

OP, you mentioned that the next storyline extension will be "Dark Age"; it would be helpful to have some sketch of what this means, so that one or more quests can be related directly to this idea. That subtitle invokes the idea of impending doom for someone: the Dom K'vash? return of the Ancients? renewed agression of the Coalition? or are the hostile Dom's now making widespread incursions into human space?

At first I did not know what to make of this proposal, but after some thought, I realized that this would be an alternate way to develop multi-part weapons and other useful items. That is not to say that this would replace the previously-proposed multi-part alien weapon assembled through a completed quest, but there could be a limited range of hardware that players could "assemble" from hard-to-get commodities. Obviously, any such idea requires some interesting coding in FLHook, but it would be worthwhile to explore the possibilities! Some of the components needed could be placed in a remote alien depot or wreck, making it difficult to proliferate. The components could be widely diverse; for example, an alien pulse-shield might be constructed from energy crystals, optronics, a Mk. II shield, a nomad power cell, and niobium (or pick any combination of CF goods).

The location of such a factory also opens some new possibilities for unique gameplay, if some quest or other FLHook trigger had to be met to gain access to the factory or its system. It would be interesting to make such use of the Ancients' system, requiring at least a neutral rep and the presence of all the components for a "factory" piece of equipment... 8)

I spend a lot more time on the server than the Forum lately, so I had not heard anything about a "drop randomizer" for wrecks, but this would be a candidate for adjustment. Of course, it is a minor bug, but one that diminishes the satisfaction of thorough exploration. I mapped a GMG wreck in Weth for the first time a couple days ago (only a few minutes after a server crash, with no other players in the system), and indeed, it proved empty. Granted, GMG wrecks don't really have much $$ value, but it's nice to get a little something for the effort of finding it in the first place. I mention this as information only, not as a complaint! :whistling:

Ummm...here's the thing: good sportsmanship is not a new idea. Pretty much everybody can recognize when someone is pushing past the limits of rational RP, and just abusing other players. There is a set of "rules" laid out for how RP should work, along with some "suggested" limits for the different roles. To add layers of accountability and process to this is to change the game server & forum into some courtroom, instead of a place for players to have fun. Sure, nobody whats to get booted for playing their roles well, but let's use some common sense.

When I first began playing in the CF universe, pirates routinely killed players down to level 50, with or without warning. I was not happy to be one of those victimes, but i did not run to the forum bawling my eyes out, looking for a tissue! Instead, I accepted this RP as part of the REALISTIC CF universe, and made adjustments to my gameplay accordingly. No amount of debate is going to improve on that viewpoint, even though many will disagree. Take responsibility for your RP, play fairly within your RP, and let's all just have fun! 8).

Now that I have had a bit of time to acclimate to the new version, I must say that anyone who has any complaint should look in the mirror and ask the person they see if they need counseling... CF 1.82 is better than anything ever done to date in the Freelancer universe! OP has again exceeded any expectation for the FL platform, and improved on his own previous work, as he always does. :D I am overdue for an upgrade to my comp, but even now the increased stability of the server, the smoothness of the graphics, the textures, starspheres, interiors, and overall gameplay are fabulous. The Crossfire universe is more than twice as large as vanilla FL, and RP possibilities have been multiplied accordingly. And think of this: the new quests have still not been implemented! Well done, OP!! You're still the Modder of the Decade!

You could reschedule yourself to a different time zone...I see most players above my level when I am online. With the time available since 1.8, I have only now reached level 60 with all my characters, and most are cash-poor... :S

Most excellent news, old friend! Give our thanks to Mrs. Haegar for taking good care of you while you have been recovering; I'm sure she has been a great source of strength. :D Have another beer for me!
