When I fisrt launched the mod, I noticed that the launcher was upgraded to v2.1, but after that first connection with the server, I get launcher v1.6 again. On the initial launch I was able to sell salvaged cargo, but now I cannot sell cargo at all, apparently. I only downloaded the mod 2 days ago, so I thought I had the "market fix" version; I guess I'll have to go through the 4-hour process all over again...

The ship navigation voice in Hiruga is a bit redundant, but logical, since it is triggered within a 4-5k radius of any jumphole. Since Hiruga has so many, it may become a bit of an annoyance for the residents of that system, but it also lends itself to some additional bewilderment for fisrt-time explorers of the system. I'm not sure OP can deactivate that feature in a single system...

In beta testing, we used FLMM 1.31; as far as I know, v1.4 will not work.

Hmmm... dunno if my antivirus settings are too high or somthing, but the download link in the Portal downloads area is not resulting in a download, even though the download count ticker is advancing every time I try it. Dang, I forgot to re-install my FTP program last time my HDD died, too...

Absent WithOut Leave-
I offer my sincere apologies to the Crossfire/SWAT community for my extended absence. I might have posted a Notice Of Departure had I known I would be away from these boards for so long! I have had so much conflict at work, that I could not bear the prospect of reading more of it here, so I have stayed away; selfish, perhaps, but necessary at the time.
I have recently just emerged from the fight of my professional life to keep my job as an engineer; despite the fact that I was hired for the position with my employer's full knowledge that I had no real qualifications for the job when I was hired nearly a year ago. I have managed to learn enough about a new engineering discipline to fulfill my duties, but not without a heavy cost in mental fatigue, and constant tension with my boss over the minute details of day-to-day operations.
Up until last week, I was among several people who were convinced that we would be the next to be fired. I discovered that my boss has gone through over 300 empoyees in a 5-year period (either fired or quit), in search of the "perfect" employees, and he has only a 40-man shop! No one seems to be safe, since even highly-qualified people are fired for mistakes that are not entirely their own responsibility. And yet, this last week I am told that I will be the project manager of a multi-million dollar project that will take all year to complete (and do my other work besides!), so it appears that I am needed after all.
Crossfire & SWAT have still been in my thoughts, though I have not been here to make a contribution to discussion, or complete the work I began to do to collaborate on a transition team. I will continue to support this community to the extent that I can, which I hope will be more and more often, now that the crisis point has passed for me. I hope to complete some work I promised to OP, now that I have some holiday time, and I look forward to beginning fresh with the new year.
My finacial & moral support for OP & this community have never wavered, and will continue into 2010, as long as I have a log-in! I only hope that people can look to the new year as a new horizon, forget the troubles of the past, and rebuild what has been for me a haven of recreation and creativity. I cherish all the relationships I have made here, and I look forward to many more hours & days of fun with all who will look forward to what CF can be once again.

Merry Christmas to all! Make the most of this Holiday, counting your blessings, remembering all that is dear to you, and expressing your affection for those who you cherish. The Christmas story teaches us that in a world of darkness, even the smallest light gives hope to all who see it. May you share the light of your hope & love with those around you, and make the world a better place!

I have no interest in having more than 1 account after the char wipe, since it really takes too much maintenance. By necessity, one character is all I will be able to manage for weeks after the wipe anyway, since clan-building will require considerable redistribution of resources. Besides, the development of skills in different ships really requires some focused practice, which is wasted by dissipation over a whole range of ships that might be found in one's personal fleet... I am reminded of a movie I saw long ago about Michaelangelo (I forget who played the roles). The artist was working at the top of a very high scaffold, laying on his back, and obviously tired. The pope asked the artist in frustration, "When will you be DONE with this work?" The artist answered, "When it is FINISHED!"
Moral of the story: you can't rush a MASTERPIECE. OP increased both the scope and volume of the work in CF 1.8 to a level never before contemplated, attempted or seen in a FL mod. Museums around the world are filled with masterworks that took time to complete; on rare occasions some of these are taken on tour so more people can see them. The Sistine chapel can only be seen 1 place, and CF 1.8 will be much the same...
BTW: imagine how much longer the work on top of that scaffold would have taken if the artist had to climb down himself every hour to get something to drink, do his ablutions, get fresh materials, etc.! He obviously had the help of people with no artistic ability whatsoever at least conrtibute to the work by providing encouragement & refreshment, and it's hard to tell which was the more important! Take this chance to do the same...
