The hours of availability posted on the previous page are still valid for next weekend, OP. One question, though, will testers be able to use their existing char's to test (after you've checked them for errors) or have to start from scratch? It would speed up the checks on the Dom K'vash and Altair systems... But then. I'm sure you have a well-planned test program!

Go to your Freelancer folder, wherever you installed Freelancer, and open the ".exe" folder. There is a file called "myflaccountid"; double-click on this file, and it will pop up a window with your MPID, and a button to press to print the number out for you. Go ahead and press the button, and file that copy with your passport and birth certificate....

I would love to help test CF 1.6, provided that I can synchronize my schedule with the testing times. Being 7 or 8 time zones away can be a bit of a handicap, but I spend 2-3 hours per session everyday, normally...

Thanks, Shados! Too bad we have to go outside CF to find instructions for such an integral tool...

I haven't used IRC before, but I'll do some homework, and plan to be there...

Perhaps the Gunster is more efficient in the use of his weapons...!

Well, having had a bit of time to get accustomed to the new shell and its bounty system, there appear to be some useful fuctions, but I have not seen any instructions on how to use them. This is the thread where I would expect to see such information as what commands are used to do a long-range scan, transfer credits, etc. Apparently, the bounty also has been re-activated in Coloseum, without notice, though it is somewhat of a consolation prize for the losing team members there...
Perhaps someone could enlighten me (and others) about the use of the shell...??

If there was any doubt that Crossfire is the UberMod online, what you've shown us so far of 1.6 will vaporize it, OP!! Outstanding work...

Independent Operators' Consortium (IOC) announced today its IPO on the CrossFire server, offering services in shipping, investment, convoy escorts, and equipment sales. Many IOC pilots have been seen in the Sirius systems recently, as they ply their trades in several markets. Members are free to operate as freelancers, as long as they do not violate the corporate Charter, which affords benefits not otherwise available to freelancers. Interested parties are invited to check into the IOC home page at http://ioc.t35.com
Any party intersted in IOC services need only contact the nearest IOC pilot online, to inquire about rates and terms. Since every IOC pilot is an independent operator, rates and terms may vary for the same service.
In the very near future, the Consortium will have completed its analysis of the commercial potential of available CrossFire systems, and announce the relocation of its corprate headquarters from their temporary Tarsus address.

Support seems to actually be growing for the char wipe...
Some of this is tongue-in-cheek, Marshal. We all support OP in whatever decision he feels best for the life of the server. Really, I doubt anyone is enthusiastic about the prospect of a character wipe; some of us are just looking for a silver lining in that cloud. For instance, one positive consequence would be that the ill-gotten gains of players who exploited bugs would be wiped clean, and we would see who has really got skill in building characters, since CF 1.6 will have greatly improved cheat prevention. Another positive thing (in my view) would be the purging of old, discarded and unused character files, now clogging the stat board, some of which have seen zero activity for years.
I personally do not really relish the idea of remapping Sirius with 4 ships, going through the procedure of getting permissions to replace proprietary designs, rebuilding a well-stocked store, and all the rest. But the benefits 1.6 will bring are expected to be worth whatever front-end inconvenience we have to overcome, and on that basis, I look forward to getting on with it, one way or the other!

I noticed some time ago that there would be an event on Sundays for players at and below level 50, and was called the Escape pod race... I figure it never really had any success, because I never saw any event being held on Sundays in NY as predicted.
The event referred to above was and IS the Pod Hunt, and was/is held on Saturdays, not Sundays (see "New Crossfire Event" thread). Due to the fact that players tend to advance fairly quickly, it was only intended to be held every other week. True, attendance has not been as strong as hoped, but then my inability to comprehend German is likely one of the reasons. Also, it seems that most players new to CF only visit the forum once they have either been here a while, or run into some problem with the game, so they do not see the postings announcing the event. Since the console was full, there was no good way to promote the event online, except try to contact eligible players directly on the game.
With the advent of the shell, it appears that there is more capacity in the console for messages, so perhaps OP will now allow for the Pod Hunt to be posted?? In any case, I have observed that there seem to be more eligible players on the system on Sunday, who would not be missing a clan meeting in any case; so perhaps, Lone, if you would like to assist, we could collaborate on a Sunday running of the Pod Hunt? Let me know...

I'm gone a couple of days, and look what happens!
Well, I agree with Dragoness on this one. Players who enjoy a balance of trade, exploration, and combat will be affected somewhat less than the exclusive train pilots, but the ones rewarded the most are those who care for nothing but killing. Once again, a skilled fighter is now encouraged to just show up, and begin slaying players at will, and never do any exploring or trading at all! If this is what it takes to make CF more interesting for some people, then there is no need for new ships, new systems, economy models, or new factions. Just make the whole game a top gun match and have done with it... [5]

Fabulous work, OP! I'm sure that actual play will far outstrip the descriptions outlined above. My only reservation: do cruisers no longer have railguns, as in the single-player game?

The cream always rises to the top...keep up the good work, Highness!

Thanks for the heads-up, mate! I already split my store once, and I've been wondering what the limit might be on weapons and equipment. At least your hard-earned knowledge can help others; See me online, I'll donate some of my burgeoning surplus to your new store...

Well, now that I have sort of recanted my resistance to clan membership, at least in the "normal" sense, all the characters named in my previous post here can be seen online with a prefix of (IOC). Not content with the existing clan mix, I have started my own, which predictably, is somewhat different from what I hear in the "established" clan ranks. More on this will be posted elsewhere...

Perhaps a counterpart for the FireDragoness...?
