  • Help !!!

    Now that you confirmed it, there has to be something up either at the SWAT server or the direct connect at "....zone.msn.com."


    I checked it out just now and all of the startup ini files "appear" intact so I have to assume someone is down.


    I tried to logon to the ".....zone.msn.com" site and I got nothing. Maybe they are in rebuild.


    I aint going to sleep until I get it..... 8)

    Once again I have to throw this in here since I have sooo much time on my hands.....lol


    The original post was a query for opinions of Windows (I assume Microsoft as a subtle include) versus Linux.


    Personally I have run every Gates OS since he walked out of IBM with DOS. And yes, that means way before Win 3.1.....lol.


    I have never had the opportunity to get to see Linux at all, but from what I have heard over the years, (yes, he said years) I hope you like it.


    My friends on Linux assure me it is more stable than the FDIC, and easier to maintain than a virgin with a chastity belt within reach of your wallet.


    So I guess in the end it's not so much which is really better, cause if there were other choices I am SURE we would take them, but since we have to deal with Microsoft here at home, I suppose I have to say that my XP OS surpasses some of the crap I have seen in the past: such as DOS 5.5, Windows 95 AND 98, and the ever popular whipping poster child of all OS, Windows ME.


    I hated NT only because I personally had to rebuild warehouses full of NT servers from scratch so my opinion of that OS is a little jaded. Blue screen and all.....lol


    Not to mention if you missed ONE step along the way, well, here goes the NT load all over again. I am sure OP can speak volumes on this point.


    So at the end of the day which is better?


    Well, we are at the mercy of them what brung us.


    And Steve Jobs is laughing all the way to the bank.

    .....and dont tell me a reload is necessary, it aint.


    My FL works fine which is confusing as the only server NOT in the list is CF.


    Tried again a few mins ago and still no good. Bet its a server file in MP folder or something.


    Galactic, my sincere apologies mate......lol


    Will wait for info from on high......sigh............

    And yes, I tried refresh list multiple times, no dice.


    All the other servers (ugh) list up but not CF.


    Either I lost the CF datafile or somebody blew me out completely.

  • Help !!!

    For some reason after server reboot tonight, when coming back something happened and the connection was lost again.


    When I tried to re-connect, the 24/7 CF mod didnt register on the server listing.


    FL launcher runs ok, connects, and loads FL with 1.7 mod, but on going to MP internet page, Crossfire is GONE!!!! Its not even anywhere in the list, and I know its connected to the global FL IP listing!! :-|


    Not sure whatup wid dat.


    My apologies to Galactic Def whom I left in Arena probably wondering what happened to me.

    My hat is off to Gunny for his unflinching devotion to a community that, sorry to say, sometimes bites the hand that feeds it.


    Disrespectful treatment of others comes most often from those who disrespect themselves. Sort of like, those who yell the loudest are often the most guilty.


    I am not speaking for anyone else here, but as for myself, Gunny always has and always will have my respect and thanks.


    As with all things, this too shall pass. ;)

  • CF will not work

    If you are using an older version of MOD Manager, there are files still on board the PC.


    You have to reload FL from scratch after deleting all FL files in Programs, delete any and all FL files from MOD Manager.


    Now the tricky part: Reload MOD Manager and RENEW the INI files by going to TOOLS, RESTORE BACKUPS.


    Any Bad INI files get wiped on this function and you should be good.


    If not let us know.
