    well had 23:54 left when i submitted it - i did waste alot of time on the last 5 question


    the tests ive done before were somewhat different... the scale was different... and there were not only geometrical questions

    ive never done any other kind of iq test... in spain is not usual to do those tests... in fact most ppl have never done one of these and know them only after the simpsons cartoon... :rolleyes:


    btw, if anybody got the question #39 plz post it here... ive no idea of whats the correct answer to that one... ;(

    these are public tests, they just have this "from - to" scales, to make it easier to get a result. So you wont get more points than 140.

    the difference between the results is explained with the deviation. Different nation use different deviations for their test that might be the reason. Anotherone might be that there are different ways of testing (math, logic, guessing...) sometime your good in things sometimes not. So results may vary.


    PS: some people are just bored at school, because they are not challenged. Thats why they don't do anything.

    An old thread, but still interesting I think. Got bored and visted a 2006 psych textbook for a class I'm taking... evidently two psychologists had different approaches to defining intelligence. Gardner came up with a theory of "Multiple Intelligences" defining 7 independent scales of intelligence a person possesses, and Sternberg a "Triarchic Theory" defining three. Funny thing is that in either model IQ tests only evaluate a fraction of the areas. Independent from either theory is the concept of "divergent thinking" which is a person's ability to come up with large numbers of solutions to a single problem.


    Silverfall has good points about disinclination for the smartest people to try hard in classes and the score deviations. In the Wechsler IQ scale things are set up so that the average person scores 100... a bell curve going on to show that .1% of people are above 145 and the same below 55 (like the one in this thread ^^). In those tests I'm pretty sure it's something like the people 135 and up who are geniuses and those below 70 are retarded. SAT and ACT use an entirely different system of course, as does ASVAB and another version of the IQ test that doesn't center at 100 (it divides your "mental age" by your actual age and multiplies by 100 to get the quotient), and a bunch of others that are used in various nations.


    From what I read out of this chapter this particular one neglects certain areas that a more intensive, deliberate test would cover, but I have to go back on what I said before to say that the scores are pretty close to what they really are. The areas of intelligence most commonly associated with smarts in general (analytic and logical/mathematical) are weighed well. There are quite a few bright minds at work and play around here and it goes to show how much talent and skill there is. :D


    Fortunately for Raven and anyone else not so happy with your scores, since the test hardly (or doesn't) cover linguistic, musical, bodily-kinetic, interpersonal, or intrapersonal skills or Sternberg's creative and practical intelligences - which form the kinds of smarts IQ tests don't usually touch - there are ways you may be still be the sharpest people here... especially since those with high spatial intelligence, another area not well-judged on this IQ test, are the best CF pilots. ;) (on the other hand though, the high-scorers on the test may be best in those other areas too xD)
