Weapons Groups: What the hell happened??

  • Ive been using weapons grouping since i learned about it only a few weeks after i came back to the server in July. And for some stupid reason, it just inexplicably stopped working the way it had used to only a couple weeks ago.

I put my missiles CDs and mines in wepaons group 1, which worked better than weapons group 2. If you assign anything to wepons group two, then it will automatically assign it self to fire with a right click instead of your guns every time you launch. Its a pain in the ass and its a real problem. Especially when the person your huting pops up the second you lauinch from a station or planet and you cant shoot them because all your missiles are set to auto-fire and you have to re-arm all your guns.

I assign the keys to assign and activate the weapons group; i assign the same key ive been using for months to fire teh weapon group (Mouse wheel). I highlight the wepaons i want to put in a group, and i hit the "assign" and "activate" buttons in that order. then i un-highlight the weapons ni just put into a group and highlight my guns. I click the mouse wheel and......

My guns fire instead of my missiles and mine.

What the hell is wrong here? I know its not me because ive been doing the exact same thing for months and its worked untill it decided to quit working only a few weeks ago and its been a problem ever since. For some stupid reason, now its reading my GUNS as what is grouped even AFTER i jsut ASSIGNED my missiles and mine. Is anyone else having this problem

  • I have never been able to get groups working anyway: They only fire that group once which does not help with full auto weapons. I tried putting ion cannons and lasers on different groups to stop the ions draining power when they were not needed to take down shields, but it never worked out right.

  • I didn't even know weapons could be assigned into groups. I usually toggle guns with shift+# and give all the munition weps their own keys. How do you do groups?

  • Well, i figured out what was wrong. I had grouped the weapons, but i had the wrong group active.

    To group weps:

    1) Set keys to assign and activate weapons groups. I use 'Insert' and 'delete' to set and arm group 1, 'home' and 'end' to arm group 2, and 'pg up' and 'pg down' to set and arm group 3. Now assign a key to fire your main customized group. It must be easily accessed an dmust not trip your fingers when using it. I have set the mouse wheel as this button.

    2) When you launch, open your bottom right window that shows all of your weapons. Highlight the weapons you want to put into a group. Hit the key you have set to assign the group. Now hit the key you have set to activate the same weapons group.

    3) Tap the key you have set for 'activate group 1.' When you do this, all your guns should become highlighted. Tap the key you set to activate the weapon group you just made. Now everythijng in your new group will be highlighted. When you launch from anywhere, you must activate your custom weapons group my tapping the appropriate activation button. Then simply re-arm your guns by tapping the button set to activate weps group 1.

Turns out that i forgot about step 3, which i strangely never had to do before, as my groups were always active even with kmy guns highlighted. Strangely, that does not seem to be the case anymore.
