Freelancer Crossfire RESHADEME Upgrade

When I start a new Freelancer Crossfire game there is a notice posted at the top of the screen that says there is an updated version of RESHADEME. I downloaded the update but what do I do with it once I downloaded it?

it can not be applied manually

I need to prepare an update to CF but atm I dont have time for that and actually it does not even make much sense to update it.

The changes are miniscule and have no impact on FL.
