Distant objects not visible

  • Recently I've been playing Freelancer HD and switched over to Crossfire. HD is for good or bad, a very vanilla Freelancer. There is one feature in it I really want in Crossfire: extended view distance.

I do not know what it is set in Crossfire, but in vanilla it is 10000. In HD it is 999999. This allows me to see most every static 3d model (station/gates/highways/parked battleships) not in a nebula/particle cloud.

Is there a way to change singleplayer Crossfire to also change the viewdistance to 999999?

I tried to find the hex value in the freelancer exe but the offsets are different in the crossfire version. Even though I know where the value is stored in the HD exe, I don't know enough about using hex editors to find where it is on the Crossfire exe.

  • that needs to be done for every object individually

    no simple hex editing here

I have only increased the distance settings for very large objects, "landmark" type objects and gates. In my eyes everything else goes against the idea of exploring the game.

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • Think that would be a neat feature having few more objects having bigger render distance, would give that feeling of "Oh, what's that over there?" that you'd get seeing something in the distance
