  • HI, I have some questions about the mod installation.

    1. where do mods updates write the files, on flm mod folder, the freelancer folder, both folder, or somewhere else ?

    2. As title stated do I need to do the initial update (first update after installing the mod) if I deactivate and activate the mod again in mod manager ?

Happy to be back to this amazing game, keep up the good works.

  • If you'll deactivate the mod in the FLMM, you'll pretty much break the game. The proper way of deactivating and reactivating the mod involves reinstallation of FL as well.

But yes, you will have to apply all updates after that.

thanks for the clarifications, what if I restored my vanilla backup folder to the same fl folder after I deactivate the mod and then activate the mod back, will it not be the same and will I need to do the initial updates too ? .. I just want to find a work around so that I don't need to do the initial updates if I deactivated it. I am all ears, thank you.

  • You will still need to apply the updates.

I'm not sure if reinstalling CF in FLMM using a fresh download will also eliminate the need of the new updates. It doesn't help that the updates are daily due to how CF's Dynamic Universe works.

If you have to deactivate CF because you want to play another mod then return to CF one day without the need to update it again, then you can make a copy of the vanilla backup folder and use "Change FL Directory" in FLMM so it will work with that new copy of FL. That way you will have both CF and whatever mod you want.

Just keep in mind to change save game folder as well.

Ok, thanks for the heads up, Not talking about the the daily dynamic universe updates tho, Only the first initial updates .. it really takes my net balance a blow if I were to do it every time I activate deactivate it, is there any offline patches installer for this ?
