  • Ok, I am sorta new to computer tech and I was wondering if my new computer layout is good or not.
    It is a custom-build from HP called the m7500y.

    OS= Windows XP Media Center Edition
    Processor= a Pentium 4 524 w/HTtech 3.0GHz
    Memory= 512MB DDR 2-533MHz dual channel SDRAM
    Hard Drive= 80GB 7200rpm SATA
    Primary CD/DVD Drive= 48x max CD-RW/DVD-ROM combo drive
    Secondary "= 48x max CD-ROM drive
    Front Ports= a 9-in-1
    Monitor= HP vs19d 19" LCD Flat Panel
    Stereo= HP Stereo Speakers
    Graphics Card= NVIDIA GeForce 7300LE w/ Turbo Cache
    Sound Card= Sound Blaster Audigy 4, 24-Bit ADVANCED HD Audio
    Warranty= 2 year regular service plan

    Price=1359.98 - 250.00 instant savings - 150.00 mail-in rebate= 959.98$ USD

    Is it worth the money or is it a bunch of letters and numbers that amount to nothing?

  • Price is liiitle high but thats normal concidering that its build by such manufacturer. I personally dont like LCD displays - all manufactures show up only their fastest speeds specs "in best possible case" and not the average switch time for such display. Also such displays dont have same "natural" and bright color as CRT. Such displays have one best resolutions and using another resolution will look awfull. This means you need a graphic card to be able to play on high resolutions cause 19" TFT fits best on 1280x1024 or even more. Go for a card without Turbo cache - if you can find GeForce 6600 128MB - they are about $80-90 but worth it. Processor is with HT i checked. I guess its using Northwood core (me personally think that old northwood is better than current Presscott). The memory well if its possible go for 2x512MB cause 512Mb its simply not enough now a days and in future you will have more problems with that. CD/DVD drives - i woudl suggest remove the mall and look for DVD+RW burner - would be better and cheaper than buying two optical drives and none of the mcan actually even write on DVDs simply not worth it. Similar is for the OS - i would suggest buy the pc without any OS purchased or with Linux cause not that hard to install windows alone or with help of friend after that and save $100+ for buying OS. I wont comment the speakers. Sound card is good choice. I hope they use good power supply cause they rig would need it for stable work ...
