osiris - I subscribe to the classical greek definition of Hubris rather than the diluted modern interpretation that Webster has chosen to use.
Odyseus was a classic characterization of Hubris - Belief in one's self and determination to question the status quo and challenge even the gods - often leading to tragic deaths when the gods decided to put the 'smack down' on them. <grin>. Hopefully I won't carry the characterization that far as I would hate to invoke the wrath of OP and wake up one day to find myself in a starflyer in the middle of DK space

Talking about ideas: I have an idea for an event, but for that we`ll need a dockable station in Menton.
Here`s my vision:
You are captured by the DK`s & held on their base. Somehow you manage to escape from your cell, & steal information about a new DK superweapon that can destroy all humanity in 1 hit. You try to find a way how to get away from their base, & you find an old, rusty Patriot. Now you have to run away aaaallll the way back to sirius in a Patriot, & get the disk with the info to the Crossfire government. And of course the CF government prizes you gratefully with 300 million credits. But there`s a little hook: You can`t take any shortcut to Planet Crossfire. You have to run criss-cross through all sirius & altair, to get back to X-fire.Of course more that just 1 player would take part to this one, so there would be another rule: the one who dies 5 times is out of the game. & if there are more than 1 surviver the prize will be divided on the number of survivers.

Nice idea, wrong place, and probably not workable till the next version of the mod (because you need a dockable station in Menton). -
I know i was not live in cf universe for many time ( lineage 2 addiction) but now i'm commeback with 8 more lives (like say one beauty colombian girl) and with new idea's .. i think CF should evolve in more realllike game not more in strict pvp GAME .. it should be space the final frontier not q2 in space m8's .. i think there should be much more then just fly and shoot ... weapons should be much harder to got ships 2
and i dont talk aboute credits i talk aboute this thet in reall future ships will not be seled to a n00b from street who got cash for it same weapons .. there should be maybe resist for ships on a types of weapons liek maybe shroud resist for energy wepons and weaknest for projectile weapons .. this is just idea .. maybe ships all ships should be more strong then they are now more hull more shields .. i doubt anyone from u in reall life wanna to fly in ship like shroud couse is to weak to be real space ship .. i beg for more reality in cf like anty misles turrets ( auto) or antymisles misles , there should be new stat system for the players ( i dont know is freelancer engine alowe this but maybe exp ????? skills like using vhf using hv using certain type of ships and weapons and not only for one pilot name but for acc u know so one player got skills in trade ships and if he wanna fly on fighter he must learn it not make another char take cash from clan and bought it .. i always think thet cash is only frontier in fl notwhat u really know not what u really do before .. more role play less fps shooter ...btw OP plllssss remove this finland psycho song from your sig couse if i heard again .. lol i be run by my home and sing it like creazy finland santaclause

People use PPC and gats over other weps imao for these reasons:
1. They are available to buy at stations (infinite supply).
2. High pojectile speed de-emphasizes need for aiming skills.
3. Good rate of fire and range make them the gold standards.
4. People are lazy and don't want to explore to find different guns.
5. People are lazy and don't want to develop the skills to wield the most powerful weapons because they are harder to use (low rate of fire and short range).I use codenames because it makes battle more challenging and unique for me, and I don't use gats because for some reason they boost my lag and make NPCs jump in battle (why this is I can only speculate).

It has real sized planets (600 milion freelancer kilometres [FLKM]), you can even fight with the enemy in the atmosphere of the planets (and the textures still don't broke to Texas sized pixels). The ships are flying with real physics. I think there are no cruise engine, becouse your speed increases till you don't slow your ship down (or you don't crash with something). Fire your engines up to 100000 FLKM is pretty easy there. And about the combat... it's completly different and realistic.
But increased reality costs bigger PC. Minimum requirements for the game now is 2 GHZ processor and 512 MB ram :B. -
yes ppl use ppcs and gats but in vanilla it was the same
there ppl only used nomad blasters or nomad cannons
so where is the probon the other side i wonder why the cylons are still here

how many ppl play that... how much lag does the server have?
how many of the FL top pilots are there?
if you answer those questions you will see thats its not that good so stay with CF -
Another idea: Is it possible to make weapons not to work in PvP for a while? Kinda like this: You are in a combat, but suddenly one or two of your guns stop to work, `coz they are overheated...

Sometimes when you try to fire a missile or torp, it doesn`t launch & explodes in your launcher
And that means: bye bye hull from inside out

Or what about: launching a torp on normal speed, accelerate with afterburner, turn up, launch 3 rippers in front of the torp, and then come to a standstill. Not many ships will survive that blast [wink2] -

Yes, but I've found that rapid-fire works well with mines (especially if you have a lot of credits like I do). All you have to do is knock down the opponent's shield and then spam the mines the first time he slows down or makes a bad turn. I was under the impression that the Duals do much more damage/sec than Rippers
The dissadvantage it seems though is that if your own shields are down and you fly into your own cloud of mines....er, well that is bad
