well guys... the new server is online and running
    FL is working
    the chars are there too
    but FLShell does not run

    it simply refuses to load
reason: a dll most likely incompatible with 64 bit

so that would mean... no chooseable start locations... no cargoscan on freighters... no pvp bounties... no pvp stats... and no upcoming rp stats
we would simply loose many (needed) features

suggestions how to solve this problem would be appreaciated (serious suggestsions)

Only dead fish swim with the stream.
Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • Did you try to talk to the man who made the shell? I mean this Xoxol aka Skif guy. Maybe he has a solution... I dont think we have the first server with 64 bit...

For he, today that sheds his blood with me
    Shall be my brother...

  • I believe there are shells that can be used on 64-bit processors for problems exactly like this - the main problems being a) locating them; and b) getting compatible virus/trojan(etc) free versions....

I will have a look, but I can't promise anything...

  • Can you describe what happens when you load it - does error is reported or something else. I dotn have 64-bit installed right now but i might put one soon and have the flshell here. Also what is the OS except its 64-bit.

  • well i run an amd opteron 148 64bit
    with windows 2003 64bit edition

    thats how it should be:
when i launch the flserver.exe it will load the flshell.dll with all other dlls that are needed for FL (thats what happens on the old CF server)

    thats how it is:
when i launch the flserver.exe it does load all dlls needed for FL and gives an error output for flshell "unable to load dll "d:\FLShell\FLShell.dll"

the path is correct... the file is there
everything needed to load the dll is installed and setted up correctly

ERGO: its not compatible with 64bit (which basicly is the only system environmental difference between the 2 servers)

if there is no real solution to get it running on 64bit i would possibly know a way around that problem
but i need some1 that has a 64bit processor to do some tests for me then

  • That is the worsest problem with 64-bit technology...too few compatible software atm... thats why I run Win XP 32 bit on my 64 bit Athlon....

OP if you need to test something, contact me on msn or send me an email

  • To do a meaningful test, the person helping would need to run the same version of the OS as the server.....

The differences between sever versions and professional version is huge.

  • thx pc
looks like we cant fix the problem but go around it instead

lol?! We tried with same windows here (Standart edition) and it was just fine hmmm. Processor is technically the same so i dont think he is causing that. It might sound impossible but i'm starting to think that mod exe's might cause problems. Its like when you exit the mod - game crash except if you dotn use alt+f4 and close the exe manually after that - this is not happening with original game exes. The server exe we tried on tests was the original flserver.exe and it worked.
