Doom the movie

  • I was quite excited when i heard around 6 months ago

that a film crossover for doom was being produced . The film starts with frightened

scientists trying to escape "something" and this unfortunately is how the movie continues

and it attempts to recreate the tension filled darkness that alien did back in 1979 but its

business as usual with films like this as it never really pulls it off. The story line

diverges very far from the game storyline i wont go in to detail how cuz i don't wanna give

any spoilers but there are many features recognisable from Doom 3 such as air locks,

computer panels and weapons (inc BFG). the best part of the film has to be towards the end

when one of the lead actors enters a first person view and runs around shooting zombies and

monsters including at one point a chain saw :D but ultimately the film is little more than

a typical wtf was that lurking in the darkness? film much like the resident evil films not a

bad film by any respect (except for the rocks acting) but nothing special

    imho 6 out

    of 10

  • well as a doom fan from the first hour

(creating my first mods in doom 1 .... which was a full episode with cool hard and giant

levels) doom the movie will get 8 of 10 points from me

    two points less for the

changes in story (no hell... instead of this they have a virus-like mutagent, somehing got

mixed up with the original story of reaper), one point less for the missing weapons (like

the rocket launcher or the plasma gun) and one bonus point for having a Dr. Carmack in the

    movie^^

and yes the ego perspective was hardcore

Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

  • something about the movie reminds me of 28 Days Later or Resident

    Evil

I liked the new Doom game though, kinda scary, followed the original Doom story

    pretty close I guess

I just don't like how everything is all clean or something, the

people that made Doom 3 made Quake 4 I think, I don't know how to describe it, it just felt

too... clean, like all the blood and even the dirty crap, just had a very clean feeling to

it, and I like the old crude, rusty, dirty, bloody feeling that all the old games

    had

    I don't care

  • I would give the Movie a B-.
    Not enough blood and guts.
    Needed more

    interaction with the

    "Creatures".

  • Was not a terrible

movie, but it sure as hell wasn't the best. Hell would have been a bloody nice addition to

the story, but it was ok overall.

  • I felt like a lvl 1 zombie being blasted by the bfg 10x while watching this movie!

anyone remember that level Go2It, MAN I LOVED THAT LEVEL :D:D:D:D beat it without cheats too 8)

  • An doom movie was planned to be made in 1998, after Independance Day (same budget), and was the exact same thing of the game, with arachnotrons and pink demons, but after the Columbine massacre (were the killers said they were inspired by Doom... jerks), the project was canceled.

But actually, aside from changing key points in the story (it wasn't demons, but genetically modified monsters. Not genetically engineered, but genetically modified, they had an extra cromossome added by an virus, the C-24), the movie was good.

The story presented in the movie was indeed interesting, just not as impressive, creative, shocking and why not to say, frightful as the original one from the game.

And come on, who doesn't like to see The Rock? You can't call him an amateur actor, he is new to the cinema industry, but he's also a professional actor (and stunt), or do you guys think that anyone can go up there in WWE and make everybody belive that the fighting is real?

    8,5/10

(the 0.5 because of that song that plays when he finds the BFG, the scene is just plain beautiful, it really made me cry)

What lvl are you talking about? "Gotcha"? If so, please don't offend the game and refrain to the original names :P (just kidding)

  • I will have to agree with you lot on this.
The story line was lacking especially the idea behind the demons.
Injecting hormones to make super soldiers? At least demons coming from hell would have been more believable.
    Silly.
Then the whole FPS view thing?
I feel like I'm not watching a film but have been forced to watch someone play the game.
