T6 Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought Stats – Ouch, this is going to hurt…

  • ..my wallet.

In 2012 my first experience with ‘chasing the lockbox prize‘ was the Wells Temporal Science Vessel. Somehow I had gotten it into my mind that not only would I have this ship, but I would buy it’s mirror counterpart the Mobius Temporal Destroyer from the lobi store. I was fascinated by the console from each ship, the cool design and that both could easily operate as ‘escorts’ in the game we lovingly referred to as ‘Escorts Online’.

400+ lock boxes later, I had both. My accountant ultimately laughed at me. Back then a lockbox key went for as little as 600K, so had I converted 400 keys into ec, I could have been able to buy both ships 2x over.

I opened the boxes on my Science Captain because as I thought at that time, she needed something with more teeth. And the console set seemed to be a game changer How wrong I was (*facepalm*). The Tipler Cylinder gave the player a 7-second rewind effect called the Temporal Backstep, that would make you immune for a short period, while you moved backward in time restoring hull and shields (partially), and resetting your cool-downs and recharge times. When used with the second console, the effect would freeze your opponents momentarily – but to be honest I don’t think that ever really worked as intended.

The second console was the Manheim Device, which when triggered would produce the Manheim Effect. In essence an earlier version and a later version of your ship would appear to support your efforts, but at a horrible cost. If you’re earlier version died, you would die as well. Hard to use effectively – it took planning and a little luck – the console fast became known as the ‘Suicide Console’.

What I learned from this experience was that 1.) console sets rarely live up to the hype, and if anything are more ‘color’ than ‘value’, and 2.) Lockbox ships can often be acquired for far less $$$ by buying them off the exchange. The Wells was running for about 80 million EC.

Did I experience buyers remorse? Nope – both proved to be really fun to play, and the Mobius was the ship I used to beat NWS. While other science ships have come and gone, I do occasionally pull them out of mothballs for fun – but I have avoided the consoles with a passion. I do wish that we could make these account unlocked, whether by paying extra or for free.

Fast forward to the past few weeks with an announcement that the ‘suicide console’ has gotten some developer love. Then this week we got the confirmation that T6 Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought could use these consoles. *sigh- here we go again*.

T6 Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought Stats

The tier 6 Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought was originally designed by the Krenim to house a devastating temporal weapon that could alter timelines. This menacing science vessel is incredibly durable, but not very agile. It features a built in Chroniton Lance that can be used to cause devastating damage to enemies as well as render them helpless for a short time.

The Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought features a Lieutenant Commander Tactical/Intel specialist bridge officer seat and a Lieutenant Universal/Intel specialist bridge officer seat.

The Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought comes equipped with a single Krenim Heavy Raider hangar pet. These small craft are durable and equipped with Coalition Disruptor Arrays, Coalition Disruptor Dual Beam Banks and Chroniton Torpedoes. Standard Krenim Heavy Raiders can use Surgical Strikes I, Torpedo: High Yield I and Viral Matrix I.

This is THE factionless science ship we’ve all wanted. The KDF and Romulans have had to take a back seat to the Federation’s science-vessel superiority. Yes, there have been others, but my personal preference has always been canon designs. When I heard the rumors this was coming, I could hardly wait – and yet I dreaded the possibility this might be a lockbox ship.

Console – Universal – Temporal Distortion Field

This device allows the Krenim Science Dreadnought to create a local temporal distortion field that causes your starship to partially phase out of time. While in this state your starship gains significantly increased flight speed and turn rate. In addition, the distortion causes the starship to become immune to energy damage, but also deal substantially less energy damage for the duration of the effect. When your starship returns to normal space you will create a temporal disturbance that will cause a moderate amount of Antiproton damage, hold enemies and reduce the rate at which their abilities recharge.

While equipped, this console also passively improves Exotic Damage moderately.

This console mod may only be equipped on the Krenim Science Dreadnought and may be equipped in any of its console slots.

    Time to Kill (Starship Trait)

After achieving level 5 in your Krenim Annorax Science Dreadnought [T6], you will unlock the Time to Kill starship trait. While equipped, all of your science bridge officer abilities will boost your damage slightly. This effect can stack up to 3 times.

I really liked the Sheshar and Dominion Strike Ship promotions. They came in boxes of R&D materials which at the very least, I could use to help upgrade my 11 alts or sell for a decent return. This promotion is for duty officers, and while I need MANY doffs to fill the furnaces that feed the Krenim Research facility fleet holding, I am a little bit leery that another $400 may get pushed into this ship. But I do want it.

After looking at everything, I think I will give the doff packs a go. The real challenge is to figure out what energy type to use. Tomorrow is going to be an expensive day.
