Triggering first Crossfire mission

So I installed Freelancer on my current PC and downloaded Crossfire, I imported my 5 year old saves from an old PC. The mod works fine and I've been flying around adding to my credits (This save has a completed Freelancer campaign). My problem is is that I cannot trigger the new Crossfire campaign missions, is the only way to fix this going back to an older save without a completed Freelancer campaign? I preferably don't want to lose/waste all of the extra time, exploration, weapons and money etc I have amassed if possible as this is my main save.

I'm guessing your meaning with the missions not the entire mod itself?
