  • hello,
looked around and couldn't find a solution, so sorry if it has already been explained or if this is the wrong section:

how can I play with my account on another pc? my brother (Ultratanicus) started playing on my laptop, but since we live in different houses, he would like to play with his same account also from his pc, without having to start all over.
I found FLAccountmanager in the downlooad section, but I can't figure out how it works, is it what I need?
I tried to manually copy the folder in Mydocuments/freelancer (using win7) on his pc since I thought it was where the player data was being saved, but it didn't work

    thanks,
    bye

  • Usually playing on same account from different PCs(notice you can't play while he plays as the game won't work, the other way as well), but can also be problematic as account-sharing isn't allowed, but counting the story... it could be. Anyway notice that if you or your brother breaks a server rule once, or RP rules several times, your account will be punished whoever did it, so hope you can trust eachother that you both know the not so strict rules. They are just basic fair play rules to keep fun going on.

That program's not a safe way for it, as you could easely loose(delete, destroy, etc) your own ID.

For a clean and safe toying with FL IDs, download this:
    index.php?page=DatabaseItem&id=10

    I also added a tutorial of it's 5 buttons...

First of all you have to save your FL ID with the "Save FL ID" button then just copy the FLIDs.txt file that tool generates, in there you have your ID and the 2 other codes needed to make it work without touching Freelancer.
He has to download the same tool, and put the FLIDs file next to the .exe he downloaded, at the same place, then he just has to click "Manage IDs" and click on yours, then just start Freelancer and enjoy.

Notice that if you have that FLIDs file stored somewhere else, no matter your PC blows up, you will never loose your Freelancer account :D
It works with all mods, and you can "Save" as many IDs you can create, it has no limit, and you can swap IDs without even closing Freelancer, even that in big Mods like Crossfire can appear some screen(PC) lag fixed by restarting the game.

  • hi micheal,

wait maybe I didn't explain myself well:

I have 2 pcs in my home, I use my account on my pc, and my brother created his account on my laptop

we don't share accounts, we have 2 different players, 2 different pcs, and 2 different freelancer/crossfire installations, we just share the internet connection through a wifi router
    is this against the rules?

what I would like to do is transfer the account from my laptop on his pc, so he can play from his house..then eventually when he comes back to my house, transfer it again on the laptop so we can play together

is your explanation usable in this situation?

    thanks

  • Yes. this is what you actually need. and it is very easy to use.

    download it from here (moddb)
install it and run it. It will scan your computer for already existing accounts.
You just accept when its going to ask you, if the "new accounts" are supposed to be included into the account manager.
Name the file however you want.
Then you have the account/ID at the list and you can EXPORT (via button) the existing database to your HDD (saving as file)

The same thing you actually do on your brothers computer (Installing, scanning and then exporting the database)
the saved file you can easily import by clickin on the IMPORT button.
In this way you can share accounts between different computers and you dont have to start over everytime you go on another computer playing.
Simply import your file via FLAM (Freelancer Account Manager) and play as usual.

The datas on your account are saved on server side, so there is no need for you to worry about loosing any information from your characters online.

  • No. This explaination is not usable in your situation.
You can use it however, IF you want to create NEW accounts and want to have more chars.
But not to do what you intended to do in the beginning.

The Freelancer Account Manager (like the name already says) is what you need and what you should use for your purpose.

As for the transfering. It works exactly the way I explained in my posts.
And, once your ID/account is on your brothers computer (and the other way around) you do NOT need to transfer them back and forth all the time.
The player relevant datas refering to the ID/account are being stored on the server. (thats why you can pick your character to play with only when you're connected to the server and not before)
You only need to do that process once for each ID/account you want to have on both computers.
Just remember to name them correctly, so you dont get confused yourself

Sidenote: IF one account is already in use on the server, it can NOT be accessed from the other computer side at the same time.
Means, when you are logged into your own account, your brother can NOT log into your account as well, while you are already online. ;)

  • THANK YOU
    it worked perfectly
only thing is that after importing, you also need to right click on the new account and "activate" it...took a couple of tries to figure it out

    thanks again for the help,
    bye

  • yes sorry for not telling right. But the whole program is pretty much self explaining. Same way in exporting only selected chars or all chars, when clicking yes or no. Not too hard to get the way it works, I think.

  • The FL ID Changer does the same thing, importing and exporting works by sending to the other PC the FLIDs file, and you can play from there. It neither needs "activation" and shows your real ID instead of a self generated code.

Anyway, both way works, and glad to see the issue is solved :)
