  • Hi all :D

    I have a bad problem.
When I want to start Crossfire, then the error "Component msinet.ocx or one of its dependencies not correctly registered:
a file is missing or invalid" comes

After searching in this forum, I found out, that a lot of people have this problem.
I tried to run it as admin, download a new msinet.ocx file and registered it and I have redownloaded the mod.
My Installation of Freelancer is complete clean without old mods.
I hope you can give me an answer, because I want to play this great mod really. :S

  • Thank you for your answer:)
But I looked into the Faq and nothing worked.
If somebody has an idea, then please let me know ;)

  • Hi Sorogoth,

Your problem can be corrupted CF install file. Few ppl who tried almost all ended with downloading mod again and all worked well for them.

  • thx for your answer ;)
Ok I will try it again.
If it will work, then i would be happy

  • Sorry for the double post, but I wanted to say something.
    It worked
I deinstalled the game and Flmm. After that cleaned up the registry and installed both complete new.
Then I installed the new downloaded version of Crossfire and activated it.

But now I have a other problem.
When i start the game, the game goes back to desktop at the loading picture with the tower.
I watched at the faq and deleted all the savegames and changed the resolution to 800x600, but nothing worked :(
    Do you ave any ideas?
(Do i have to install the game again after deleting the savegames?)

  • If your anti-virus firewall is blocking it or just the whole anti-virus itself , allow FL to it and it should work.

  • Thx for your suggestion, but it didn't work.
I have tried to run the game with a deactivated firewall, but :S

  • Hm.. weird. It has to be an installation issue I guess. You probably missed something during the installation ,... I sent you a PM to try it in a different way

No, you do not have to reinstall the game after deleting saved games.

As for crashing to desktop (CTD), did you enable the Advanced Shader in FLMM? The Advanced Shader does not work on all hardware, and can result in a CTD.

There are 10 kinds of people in the world: Those who understand binary, and those who do not.

  • He's all good now Bullwinkle ;]. I sent him a PM which contained my method of reinstalling and installing CF ... and, it worked to him. ( at least his reply says so)
