  • Ok heres the deal. Its worked b4 and let me preface that my laptop has the cancer of Windows Vista. I do a fresh install of both crossfire mod and mod manager 1.31 followed by a system restart. Then I right click the mod mananger to Run as Administrator but EVERY SINGLE TIME i try to activate the crossfire mod from the mod manager I get this error

    Error: problem activating 'Crossfire Mod 1.70 Client Edition'
    Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\Crossfire1.70\EXE\MSINET.OCX' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\MSINET.OCX')

    Whats the problem?

    NOW its saying this after the failure to start mod

    Error: problem activating 'Crossfire Mod 1.70 Client Edition'
    Error: SHCopyFile failed ('C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer\Data\Missions\M01B\m01b_11.thn.flmmbak' to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Freelancer\Data\Missions\M01B\m01b_11.thn')

    What am I doing wrong?

  • There is a section called "Freelancer Support" or "Technical Issues" or something similar, and there is where you should post things like that. Perhaps you will also find your answer even before you post your problem because someone else had a similar issue.

  • For file copy failures - make sure that FLMM is running as administrator and if some files fail to copy, try again. There's not much else.

    // Probably won't be moved since I can't mod this board

  • Yes, but indeed there is a lot of bugs connected to using Vista. So you might wnna check it out, dude

  • Ive had the same error before (in Win XP) and ive noticed that in both occasions the files at hand (there are more than the ones u see) are being used by another program.
    While u install/copy/move anything, disconnect from inet, disable your antivirus and any other prog that is checking those files. And go to file properties and config them for Modified Only while u at it (the entire freelancer and crossfire directory.

    Regards

  • I got THE SAME error a few days ago.

    And I was furious too, didn't know what to do.

    First uninstall all mods
    Then uninstall FLMM
    After that uninstall Freelancer and related stuff.

    Install Freelancer again
    Install FLMM
    Install CF and every other mod
    It shout work normally.

    1.7 PvP and stuff

  • A little better installation instructions:

    1--> Delete everything of Freelancer(saves , mods ,.. etc etc) / but first use the Control Panel to delete the game itself
    2--> Use CCleaner or Advanced System Care to clean up your PC
    3--> Restart your PC
    4--> Install Freelancer
    5--> Install Freelancer Mod Manager 1.31(Do NOT install 1.4 if you have it, ... 1.4 is bugged^^)
    6--> Install the Crossfire Mod
    7--> Open Freelancer Mod Manager and Activate Crossfire( And do NOT run anything else like songs , programs. etc etc. let the activation process to finish first!
    8--> After the activation, you can install the CF Patch[if you want] (it's for Online-Multiplayer gaming, after that patch is installed, launch the Launcher and wait the updates to download. After they download, the Multiplayer Button will get active. After that, make an account and write down your Account ID/code. Without that code, you won't be able to access your account after a reinstall.
    9--> Good Luck ^^
