SWAT mod database/mod spotlight

  • The idea:
Modders get the chance to register for this feature... just like on the current SWAT mod database. The mod creators can present their work in pre-set categories... just like on moddb
with their account they can edit their presentations at any time

the entire feature has to be placed on "plugins" in order to show the database/spotlight on different pages

every week a mod gets randomly choosen to be "mod of the week" and presented on the SWAT main site (and later on other sites)
either like the FLCN we have on our site or in one of the side bars

    thats the idea...

What is needed to get this done?
a php script being able to handle this job... maybe a cms which can be made compatible with SWAT and other sites

    Registration process.
The mod creators register and get an activation code via mail... once the account get activated a mod entry with different categories get created automatically and the mod creator automatically is "moderator" of the mod

    thats it

assuming that we have people here with php knowledge... -> help is needed

Don't discuss with idiots. They only drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience there.

Thats an interesting part - maybe some JS and if you click on it there appears a popup window with the content of the mod creator... i think some php, and javascript would be needed

this site is somehow based on woltlab and i am not sure if woltlab can handle this (but i guess yes), i am very familiar with phpBB3, but wordpress is also a good choice.

Register and activation code via mail is OK - that supports nearly every CMS that is available on the market. The problem is the automatic assignment and creation of a "subforum, page whatever". You would need the information during the registration process - than it would be possible i guess. Becoming then mod in this forum is also possible - but adaptions to the cms would be needed i guess.

Well besides the fine tuning of such a forum i think we should try and test out what is feasible... I can help a bit with php - and i would need some time to get familiar with the cms we decide to take (except its phpBB :))

  • who is willing to work on this?

  • Well like i told i can try to figure out how it works with phpBB3. I have read that there are several mods outside that could handle the requested features - so there would be less to adapt to suit our needs.

And i could help a bit with php as well...
