Client wont auto update so i can play Multiplayer.

    Hey everyone. I used to play Freelancer online about 3 years ago and it was very fun. Since then ive been playing eve online due to its large game content.


    Anyway, I found this mod recently and would love to give it a try.


    When i run the client to go into multiplayer, it says CF Update not found. Single player only.


    Is there anyway i can fix this? Id love to join the server.

    did u follow "Installation Instructions" in the CF Guide?
    do u have removed any read only attribute from ur freelancer path?
    did u run everything as administrator?
    do u have permission to write into ur freelancer path?
    do u use Vista?

    The error message is as follows:
    "Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E4]"


    I use Windows XP Professional. Single player works fine. I didnt follow the instructions exactly because ive installed many freelancer mods before. It seems FL Mod Manager 1.31 works well.


    Must complement the creators for such an impressive package. Ive been having fun in single player mode but would like to play online with you fine people!

    HAHA its ok i got it working. For some reason the Freelancer directory was set to read only, cant see why?!


    So ive joined now. Whats the quickest way for a new player to earn money :p

    As boring as it might sound: The easiest way to earn credits is by trading. You should be able to earn enough for an eagle in less than an hour.
    Hint: Mactan base in Magellan sells a dromedary (provided you fixed your reputation with lanehackers), which holds 275 cargo. Buying VIP on ManhattAn and selling them on Newark will net you 165'000 credits a run. If there's something good to bring back from Newark to ManhattAn it could be as much as 300k.


    Duh, one really should wonder why people complain about not having enough money.

    the write protection of the directory is because of a FLMM error (or FLMM doing that crap on purpose)
