and i thought it was bloody funny when i saw some doc on this vista XP battle on TV a few months
ago :D, i think it was on 20 20 (some news show in NZ) 
Well, here I go trying again....lol
I reinstalled everything from scratch and started with fresh xp and only the video card in the system.....so far it seems stable so I'm gonna try to install CF...here's to crossed fingers and toes

I guess I'll try and use onboard mobo vga and see if my system is stable?
be careful when installing your windows, the more you install the worse it can get.
i have know idea why this is.... but i can only assume that when formatting a hard drive multiple
times, it wears down the hard drive down a bit..... if you do this again, be careful of a multiple system shutdown. (every thing stops working )
but may i ask.
when you installed freelancer, did you get an error message saying something that the CAB files didn't install?
just gathering some info
and if people have had this prob in the past when a PC is on the edge. please tell me as im trying to figure out what can cause this.
and the CAB prob can occur on games that use the cabinet files when installing.
trying to confirm my suspicions.

I don't think my problem is related to CF. From what I can tell its a problem between chipset drivers and vcard driver. I just need to find the right combination to get this darn thing running correctly again. My mobo is msi ms-6533g-l , sis650 nothbridge, sis 961 southbridge. The drivers avaiable (as well as support for old mobos is pretty terrible. I'm gonna try installing chipset drivers from sis to see if I get a stable setup.......here's to hoping for better luck 
Yea.....latest testing indicates I have the right drivers or fixed whatever it was. I have vcard with all settings at stock and no crashes.....I think I'm back
yaee!:D nice to see someone avoid a simultaneous shutdown. a thing that nobody should go though. (nothing recoverable software/hardware) i was lucky to be paranoid and take my V card and sound card out. lol
hint: you can never be to paranoid about PC's LOL
you may have herd my PC was killed by a Trojan?
it was a reinstall of windows to fix the prob that it caused
but... i reinstalled a bit to much lol... but i now have one hell of a beast

Well, I had this stupid pc running correctly for a few days, but now I'm back to continuous crashes.......at this point I can't play any games at all 
I guess I'll miss the release of 1.8 [3] I hope to see you all soon. Time to try and find more work so I can afford some new equipment and throw this pc as far down the street as I can.
