Cant get crossfire to work for me

    I followed the instalation instructions..


    I activate the crossfire mod in the flmm and launch freelancer and i get the error ..the application faild to initialize properly (0xc0000005). Click on ok to terminate the application.


    Tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times with the same error every time.


    What I do is download and install flmm
    download and install crossfire to the flmm mod folder
    install freelancer
    restart computer when prompted to
    launch flmm and activate crossfire mod
    launch freelancer
    beat head against monitor when error repeats


    I am runing freelancer on windows xp and any help would be so awesome at this point.

    be patient, there are several ppl who can help you here. One of the questions i would like to ask:


    - activation of the mod runs without any problems?
    - remove the read-only flag from all files and directories below your freelancer folder#
    - update of graphic driver or sound card driver...
    - no appropriate access rights to start the game?
    - dunno about savegames (Haegar?)

    When I run flmm it appears to work. The x over crossfire changed from red to green. I assume this means it worked but I'll give the details of what I am looking at.


    When I run flmm it says it is flmm v1.3


    when I hilight crossfire nothing appears in mod details, no authors listed and the view readme stays greyed out.


    In the log window it says: 'crossfire' succesfully loaded
    Found mod: C:\Program Files\Freelancer Mod Manager\mods\crossfire.


    When you mentioned read only did you mean in the flmm? because I did that is there another place I should have?


    As for permission to launch the game? I am the only user on this machine and it says jim is the admin...I am jim. 8)


    Kermit thanks for posting the link to the instalation guide but please assume the plain english in it is too complicated for my simple mind. Is there some place in my discription that it appears that I faild to follow the instructions correctly? If so please spell it out.


    New question, what is the correct install path for the cf17a patch? Into the mods folder? Into the crossfire folder. Sorry just trying to cover everything.

    Hey mates


    I came online tonight and went searching for some target practise so went into FP7 - every time I killed a Nomad my pc crashed to desktop - and then I found a small problem reconnecting as it said I was already connected.


    I was on even earlier and just trading in NB without any probs.


    My settings are all the same as before, ie 3d sounds off etc


    Any ideas?

    I keep crashing at the main screen on both single player and multiplayer..... odd thing is the movies FINALLY stopped causing me to crash.

    please check if u still hold any saved game from another mod (including restart.fl): My Documents/My Games/Freelancer/Accts/SinglePlayer

    there is an easy way to find out by looking into "My Documents/My Games/Freelancer/Accts/SinglePlayer" - please delete just any "*.fl" file in that directory and see if that helps...

    having the exact same problem as Linweilu...Ive done all that has been posted with no results ... ive been searching for the solution for hours please help cause this mod looks amazing and I would really like to try it out..

    nm i got the launcher to come up now and its running an update ... what i did was go inside the cf mods folder and copied "Crossfire1.70" into the flmm mods folder... its always something simple

    but you did not copy the content manually to the freelancer folder? You have activated the mod in FLMM?

    in the mods folder in freelancer mod manager .. the crossfire install made a folder called "Crossfire"... which has inside it ... "mods" folder( link to crossfire website, silent.nsi,and uninstall)...
    all i did was drill into the "mods" folder in the crossfire folder and copied the "Crossfire1.70" folder into the main flmm "mods" folder .. then i activated it with flmm updated and it works fine now..
