  • Well, when I try to launch CF single player from the launch menu, nothing happens after I click the button. No EULA or anything, just like the problem mentioned at the start of the topic.

    And yeah, I did a fresh install of Freelancer to apply the mod to and all... just like the CF installation directions tell you to do.

    What other details do you need?

  • Maybe I missed it...did u try dropping CF to windows desktop and see if EULA window box is in taskbar?

    I roam space in search of adventure and treasure.

    {LP}Marauder{X} of the Lost Prophets

    MARAUDER n 1: someone who attacks in search of booty
    "marauder": Syn: bandit, buccaneer, desperado, forager, looter, pillager, pirate, plunderer, predator, raider

    FYI: Lost Prophets are currently recruiting, please talk with a representative online :D

  • Yeah, still didnt see the EULA box though.

    would you find it under the process list though? I'm assuming so, but what would it be called exactly? Just to, you know, make sure it's actually appearing...

  • Sorry for the double-post,

    but I tried a clean install on a laptop also running XP.... same exact problem..

    I must be doing something wrong, but I cant think of what it can be if im following the directions to the letter... even applied the Crossfire patch for the multiplayer button in hopes that would do something...

    Any thoughts on the EULA box to get this stuff started? I'm really at a dead end here... tried reinstalling multiple times and all....

  • here an install guide:

    Guide

    here the error code list:

    Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E1] --> connection problem to update-server (firewall configuration ok?)
    Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E2] --> trouble with downloading files from update-server (or no right to write into freelancer path)
    Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E3] --> trouble with certain Windows versions (install the CF patch)
    Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E4] --> trouble while downloading files from update-server (or no right to write into freelancer path)
    Problem starting Multiplayer ... [E5] --> corrupt installation (or no right to write into freelancer path)
    Problem starting Multiplayer ... [E6] --> corrupt installation
    Problem starting Singleplayer ... [E7] --> corrupt installation (or no right to write into freelancer path)
    Problem starting Singleplayer ... [E8] --> corrupt installation
    Problem starting Freelancer ... [E9] --> corrupt installation (or FL already running?)
    Problem starting Freelancer ... [E10] --> corrupt installation (or FL already running?)
    Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E11] --> trouble to contact update-server (firewall configuration ok?)
    Crossfire Update not found ... only Singleplayer available [E12] --> trouble while downloading files from update-server (or no right to write into freelancer path)

    the EULA box start on your first FREELANCER run
    not on the first CF run

  • EDIT: Okay, got CF to work and got into the SP campaign, but something I noticed immediately when I got to the main menu was that theres text missing from a lot of the buttons in the menu.

    Also in game, theres a lot of text missing from infocards and windows. Theres some in certain places, but also blanks in certain places, any thoughts?

    (and I really appreciate the help so far, guys. Thanks a ton!)

  • I don't know about such a problem, but if it stills doesn't help, .. try my installation guide:

    1--> Delete everything of Freelancer(saves , mods ,.. etc etc) / but first use the Control Panel to delete the game itself ... about the FLMM, go in the folder and unistall it from there(After the removal from the Control Panel)
    2--> Use CCleaner or Advanced System Care to clean up your PC
    3--> Restart your PC
    4--> Install Freelancer
    5--> Install Freelancer Mod Manager 1.31(Do NOT install 1.4 if you have it, ... 1.4 is bugged^^)
    6--> Install the Crossfire Mod
    7--> Open Freelancer Mod Manager and Activate Crossfire( And do NOT run anything else like songs , programs. etc etc. let the activation process to finish first!
    8--> After the activation, you can install the CF Patch[if you want] (it's for Online-Multiplayer gaming, after that patch is installed, launch the Launcher and wait the updates to download. After they download, the Multiplayer Button will get active. After that, make an account and write down your Account ID/code. Without that code, you won't be able to access your account after a reinstall.
    9--> Good Luck ^^

  • Alright, finally got everything running smoothly.

    Turned out, my video drivers just needed to be updated for that text to show, go figure. Video drivers always cause me grief.

    Next question though:

    Is there no way to change the resolution to fit a wide screen monitor or anything? Or even just bring it into windowed mode so that the picture isn't all stretched out?

    I remember seeing something like a prefoptions file that could be edited, but I dont see that with the crossfire installation...

    Am I just out of luck there?

  • Thanks,

    I still have one problem though:
    I looked at a similar guide that also pointed to the prefoptions.ini file, but I cannot find this file in my default Freelancer directory.

    Is it because CF is activated or something?

    Edit: And I don't need the CD, right?

    ...yes, this is the file I was talking about. Perhaps an attached screenshot would explain better....

    It's installed on a portable HDD btw, hence the F:\

    Edit: ehh, for some reason the attachment won't download properly.

    But besides that, basically what i'm trying to say is that, for me at least, /My Games/Freelancer/PerfOptions.ini does not exist.

  • This perfoption.ini file is stored under c:\...my documents\my games\freelancer\... no matter if you are using a portable hdd for freelancer (the game) itself or not.

    So please have a look there.

    Oh, okay.

    Sorry about that, I assumed too much XD

    I greatly appreciate it!
