Are you running any real-time protections? i.e. virus or spyware? I know I have to disable them when I'm gonna play the CF mod..

I am using Eset Smart Secuirty, i followed to the letter the insallation instructions, four times, set my router to forward the relevant ports, firewall setup to allow FL:CF through...
I will try disabling my FW and get report back... 
what's the error? unable to connect -- try again later?
yeah, something like that...
i did go to post the exact error but been offline all day beacuse of a power cut 
also, disabling FW and AV didnt do a thing, even tried direct connecting my PC with my modem (cable modem usually hooked up to router)
quadruple checked the forwarding rules and they all check out... i suppose SP will have to do until i figer this out

oO haven't tried to install FL on the thing again (just did a clean SP1 install). try this:

I was far from X-fire for a while. (lost Father to a Tumor...)
Now I am trying to go back but i just cannot conect.
Yes.. I follow al instructions. A clean FL installer +> flmm instal => mod instal xfire 1.7 and all works fine.
I am connecting trough 87.106.211.192 and the server appears but the version 1.7 stays red and i cannot connect.
Well this is my problem. I tried to find 1.7a to download it but no find it.
Once again ty a lot. I'll be waiting for som lingth at the end of black hole.
click on multiplayers on the CF launcher then the correct version is launched

whats the problem with your launcher exactly - cause its needed to have all files updates so you wont cause the game to crash...
There is no workaround...
Hello Huor. Ty for Asnwer me.
I make a clean Instal as I cited above.
But when I start the game the launcher screen (that one must apears automaticly I think) just not appears. The gams runs directly to presentations videos and after that enter the Game menu.
No error.
When I click Multi Player it runs normally and I can see the Freelancer server. But its red (incompatible versions signal) and I canot connect.
If I could launch the x-fire Launcher screen mannualy I guess It will update and works.
But I dont find the launcher exe.
So if u could help it will be greatly apreeciated.
And once again ty a lot u all that are trying to help me.

for me it seems as the activation of Crossfire didnt worked well. Cause when you start the freelancer.exe the launcher appears automatically. So if this doesnt work then your installation is has not succeeded in every aspect. (Can you have a look at the activation by FLMM1.3 if there is any error reported?)
And do you see the crossfire movies at the start or the default freelancer intros?

I can even play offline. Works fine. Just cannot log to X-fire server.
I will make another clean intal again. Back in a few
please make sure to have write permission to the install path for FL and CF and run everything as administrator. please check if all and every files have the read only attribute removed...
Just to add to this that there are some issues with running CF on Vista with certain AV progs/Firewalls... disabling these will make no difference you need to totally remove your firewall and Use just the Vista firewall... another one of windows Vista incompatibilities.... lets hope they sorth this by the time windows 7 gets released.
