  • I have read the book posted here, and been through every forum post but even with the search function I can't seem to find anyone with this problem.

I get this error on FLMM when trying to turn on Crossfire.
"Error: problem activating 'Crossfire Mod 1.70 Client Edition'
    Error: SHCopyFile failed ('x:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\EXE\spcontent.dll.flmmbak' to 'x:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Freelancer\DLLS\BIN\content.dll')
    --------------------"
Fresh install. Every step followed. Even had 2 other people try just to be sure...same thing. Any ideas?
    Something stupid>?

  • it could be that u do not use FLMM V1.31 (find it here)

or u have not the permission to write into ur freelancer path (Vista user?) - please start as an administrator...

or if u really use a drive "x:" - this might be the problem? try to use drive "c:" instead if possible....

  • Well the first problem was the wrong version of FLMM. It was the newer version which...for some reason didn't work. So the install went well. Now it crashes right when I attempt to start the game after hitting single player. Error seems to be with the commen.dll.

After looking at the error log.
Failure to get start position is the error. I have used Open SP option...maybe I should not?

  • check if u use the FLMM 1.31

u might need to delete the saved games (My Documents/My Games/Freelancer/Accts) - don't forget "restart.fl" or any other file in there - if those files r remains from another mod: they r incompatible...

also u find the Crossfire Guide here: http://www.swat-portal.com/portal/download/CFguide.swf - check the "Installation Instructions" chapter for a clean install, please

  • the start location error you get is something common in OpenSP
its absolutly normal since the starting location of the storyline does not exist

    Fix'd.

  • Okay, I get this problem too, DO NOT PANIC! what happens is that whenever you use Open single player, and deactivate it, it deletes "common.dll" this is Big! I don't think you can open any mod without it, but the thing I did, was this"

1.go to this website http://www.moddb.com/games/81/…505/backup-contentdll-v10 the download is free.

2.Do not install the mod! right-click it and click "explore"

    3. Copy and Paste the content.dll into the appropriate file, every time you turn off an openSP mod, you have to put it back.

The mod should work after that, I use every time I play Discovery 4.83

You are not cornholio, therefore, you do not need TP for your bunghole.

  • originally this is not needed nor recommented in Crossfires case since we use custom files
