3.4 Release & Help

    BU 3.4 is to be finished by January 2008 and we have big plans.


    The mod has been under way for 4 weeks now, and will constantly have work done to it until January where we will then release the mod. We will have a dedicated server set up and ready to host by then.


    Help:
    I've got a lot of work on my shoulders atm, so we need ship modellers who can texture and set up to FL formats ready to be imported. We need a new Intro Movie, i am not that good at making the movies. We will also need willing people to help with the Dynamic Launcher - similar to CF's. Hagar has done enough at SWAT - so i'm looking for others with C++ experience to code a successful launcher.

    Well, earlier this morning i came home and found myself looking at a dead PC. It has completely gone, i have lost all the progress i had of BU and am forced to restart all my work. This is delay the 3.4 version to approx. march/april. I'm hugely disappointed and if anyone out there cares, i will release when possible after beta tests and hopefully get the show back on the road.

    why do you dont make backups of current developments - thats more important than everything else for development times...

    i suggest to do it daily, that limits losses to a days work only, not that of a few weeks...

    and there are also some programs out that may support you with backup all necessary files^^


    daily backup wont take you less time and so you need less time for backups than redoing all that stuff that gets lost after weeks of development

    finally some news on this project... I took a look at the mod... and decided to give it another chance


    Blaster Universe 3.5 will be basically an improved version of Blaster Universe 3.4
    The bugs will be fixed... better graphics similar to CF1.8 will be introduced... better ship designs will be created... and a small rework on the systems.
    Nothing that will take that much time.


    The overall structure of the mod remains... and the mod will be released by request for other servers.


    I intent to work on this project right after the next Portal updates... and a release should be possible at the end of this year.

    good news - we shall announce that Blaster universe will be available for other servers too then. Might attract some interested persons / server admins eventually...
