Asus, EVGA and MSi are my cups of tea for graphics cards.
-
My 570 is running at 850 MHz atm with the stock evga cooler. The 7870 is a good card and overclocks pretty well... If you are OCing your CPU, you might as well bump up the GPU clocks a bit too.

Herp derp lets add 8k textures and a ridiculious amount of AA! We could get CF on the list! -_-
Star citizen wont catch on. Maybe the game will do well for a year but after that all the hype will die down... -
but can it run minecraft?

if intel does indeed switch over to processors soldered onto the motherboard for their 5th gen processors i will have to start using amd. i dont want to have to buy a new mobo AND processor just to upgrade :@
i dont think l4s0r based computers/quantum computers will become popular in the domestic market any time soon after it is released. at the current rate stuff is becoming more efficient such as the kepler architecture and now soon haswell. i doubt people will readily like to jump over to energy hog laser PCs
-
i think i will try it out
roasted marshmellows anyone?

And be sure to get something with a single rail to provide equal amps to all your PC parts. Cheaping out on a PSU is a big nono
.
Get one from reputed brands such as Seasonic, XFX (their PSUs are made by Seasonic), Corsair or NZXT.As Grand said, it is always better to keep some headroom for upgrading. Crysis 3 is just around the corner and it is sure to bring PCs to their knees

I would like to introduce you to my laptop; a 4 year old HP Pavilion dv4. So far all the models made by me for CF 2.0 were created and rendered on this.
Now that i have built my own gaming/editing rig, this noble machine will no longer be needed.
As you can see above, my poor Core 2 Duo reaches temps that are sufficient to make some morning tea by just browsing the internet. I mean 50 - 60% CPU usage for watching youtube videos? Dafuq?I have considered doing many things with this laptop rather than simply binning it; such as making it a Wifi extender, a home server, an HTPC or just simply taking the very organs out of it putting them into my desktop. But i guess i still need something to carry around with me for my school projects and i have no intention of buying a totally new laptop just for that, nor buying a new activation code for this current one.
So this shifts my attention towards install Linux. Linux Mint 14 to be exact. As my laptop becomes older, so does it's mighty processing power (hurr durr). Linux caters to such a non resource intensive environment. All my documents are done on google docs, so Microsoft Office was never in the picture.
My question is:
Does anybody on this forum use Linux? (dont tell me on your Android phone, I mean as a proper OS on a laptop or desktop -_-) If so, how is your experience with it? How is the GNU interface? Should I change over to Linux? -
Gunny is right.
I wouldnt risk it using only a 620w PSU for that kind of a rig. I myself am using a Corsair GS700 with a Core i7 2600K and a GTX 570. It is good to have some overhead power remaining from the PSU, it will give your parts a longer life expectancy. But otherwise yours is a pretty boss rig -
happy birthday!

But anyway, the momentus just uses the built in flash memory for caching. It will give you better boot/shut down times and will speed up your overall experience. It's just that you cant use that SSD bit of it. I would say buy it if prices drop. It is definitely worth it if you are using it as a stand alone OS and mass storage drive.
