Also, provided you don't have an important singleplayer autosave file (since this will overwrite that I believe) you can start singleplayer (after hitting multiplayer on the CF launcher this still works) and then use F1 while the intro cinematic (the one with Freeport 7 blowing up) to exit back to the main menu. Multiplayer will still work and your HUD will be adjusted since going into the cinematic loads the same files as if you were launching to space. Keep in mind this only works if you do not have singleplayer progress on your current install.

    Just an alternate suggestion...

Daywalker: No problem mate, I'm glad that this will help.

Diablo: The lack of sharpness is probably due to me having the graphical options from the mod installer for the most part turned off, since I'm still trying to get FL to run without skipping. Some of it could also be due to the fact that a lot of the fonts look weird below 0.020000 size but I used that because, especially for the HUD, many ship names and bases couldn't fit at the next highest setting.

**EDIT: I actually took a look at the screens again myself and I too noticed that they are quite blurry, I'm not sure why this is as in game nothing looks that out of focus. It may be because I used the Print Screen function and saved using Paint, since I didn't want to have to open a full image editor during gameplay.

Sorry I didn't reply back earlier, I couldn't log on last night to check settings because my connection had crashed. Anyway, tonight I made some final adjustments and I think this is as good as I can get my settings for 1366x768. Daywalker, for the camera settings I substituted what I had set for "WinCamera" for your setting of 69, which seems to be just the little bit farther zoomed out that I needed to fix some of the things getting cut off. For the rest of the camera settings, I used 86, I've posted my Cameras.ini file below. I also made some adjustments to my fonts and that is also posted below.

    Cameras.ini File

    Revised Fonts.ini for 1366x768

And here are some screenshots of the new settings both Cockpit and 3rd Person view:

Here are my font settings for 1366x768:

I used Heaven's settings for 16:9 Camera as well. Some fonts are a bit small but everything fits and is readable. Besides, I like small fonts. I'll post a screenshot later when I get the chance.

EDIT: Do not use these settings, I have much better ones posted below.

I've read through all of the threads mentioned and I want to try this but I'm not sure where to start. Diablo, your math makes sense to me, however I'm not sure how to work this considering, for me, my height is not the only value that is different. Besides the fact that I'm not sure if doing this will make it run very choppily, my computer's native resolution is 1366x768. I have yet to make the attempt, but I would imagine that the default font settings will not be adequate for that resolution which, according to what I calculate is an odd ratio as compared to the others on both the chart and in examples. If you divide the ratios into each other 16:9 ratio comes out to 1.7777... (16/9) as does 1600x900 but 1366x768 comes out to 1.7786458333... which is just a slight variation from the true 16:9 aspect. Would that be enough to change my results and how should I go about converting these settings?

I recently upgraded to a new computer (finally one that should be able to run CF 1.81 well no less) and am looking to install CF. When I came to the SWAT Portal download section and tried to download the mod I get a file but it is empty or corrupted. I can download the version from January from ModDB but if I remember correctly (and according to the date here at the Portal) the latest bugfix was released in March. Does anyone know where the latest mod download is?

2004 is still kinda old. How much graphics memory (VRAM) does your comp have. I had one about that old and it only had 32mb of vram so you may need to check.

You said you use your old PC? How old are we talking here? This game was made in 2003 so if your computer is a Windows 95-98 or 2000 computer you probably won't be able to run the game because Crossfire is pretty intense on low end comps (mine is 2007 and it barely runs some of the new graphics). This isn't OP's fault or anything, just that he made the mod so amazing that the only way to experience it fully is on a decent current computer.

Thanks everyone for the replies. There might be a way for me to fix this though. A few months ago I used a program called Macrium Reflect to completely backup my system. If it allows me to go through the DVD's for files I might be able salvage my old ID (or I can reinstall from those DVD's as a last resort).

Thanks especially to OP (for giving me the time) and Ryleous Arkane for the location of the key in the registry.

So I went to install 1.81 ( coming from 1.8 ) and forgot to backup my ID because it is usually preserved in the registry between installs. Apparently the this did not happen and my character doesn't show up when I access the 1.8 server. Does the server log the ID tied to the character account and, if so, would it be possible to get my ID from someone who has access to this kind of information?

I just finished downloading and it says that its 1.06 GB. Everyone else is saying 1.3 GB, so I don't know if this means the DL failed or...?

I have Vista with NTFS if any of that changes file size.

No hard feelings assault, that was more of a message for anyone who really did a full spam or hijack. Anyway, I used to dual boot but my windows crashed and I've had enough. I'm not gonna even consider buying a new copy until Windows 7 though because I've had enough with vista. Anyway, thanks for the suggestion on copying the registry keys, will do that when I make my attempt, I haven't had much time lately.

So, new idea, today I'm going to try to install cf in a real windows xp system and and copy the program files folder to Wine. I've heard this works for something else and I have a good feeling about this.

    By the way,

Please, no thread hijacking, this is a thread for running CF in Linux and, once a way is found, helping those who want to follow this thread.

Nah never gonna happen Even if microsoft goes bankrupt they still will leave their code proprietary, the code can be put in the basement to die off and for nobody to use, not that microsoft needs the source. Sad but sharing is for them like communism - something scary.

Agreed. Even though FL would benefit and the community would be thankful, M$ would never release the source for anything they make.

Btw, I made another attempt yesterday and, sad to say FL worked less well as it would not even pass the splash screen after adding some supposed "fixes" I found on another FL site. I'm still trying though.
