The big clue something is wrong, is that no servers whatsoever show up in the listed server section in FL. That only happens if the global server is down. Do you actually see all the servers listed or is there a direct connect built into Crossfire?

Tried that on my end, even restarted the server router as well, still the same problem. I'm leaning toward the global server going down, which does happen occasionally. If like you suggest it was playing up, it might have gone completely for now

    ** EDIT **

Tried using Direct Connect from the main Freelancer directory in the EXE folder and connected with no issues whatsoever. Points even more to there being a global server issue

I've just release an Open Single Player version of Genesis, cunningly titled Genesis 1.4 OSP, now available on MODDB at the usual link below. This version is OSP only so no use for Multiplayer as i removed the Multiplayer icon from the menu. Also comes with a price randomiser, so the prices of items change every time you dock, not just on commodities but equipment as well.

The multiplayer version is also available on the above link which is Genesis 1.44, and this is for use on the Bananaworld server only.

After getting a Nomad bribe from a Fugitive turncoat, you will have access to various Nomad ships, which can dock only at Nomad Lairs, of which there are many dotted about the mod. From theses lairs, you can wage war on the human race across all systems in Sirius and Sol by taking Nomad missions against the humans, and bringing back human pilots of all types and sell them to the Nomads for ... experimentation, probing, who knows what the Nomads do to humans.

But it's still gonna take you a long ass time to get from here to Barnards Star, Sol's closest stellar neighbor (~4 light years).

Barnard's star isn't the closest stellar neighbour, not even close, that privilege belongs to Alpha Centauri at 4.37Ly, while technically speaking it's Proxima Centauri at 4.24Ly as it's a trinary system. Barnard's star is 5.97LY away. Point here really is they are all too far away if we just want to pop over for tea and biscuits, until a form of travel is figured out to cover the vast distances in a reasonable time

Messing about with my latest update which i'm about to release due to a few minor issues, came across this ship which is a flyable Nomad player ship from Beta 1 of Freelancer i've christened the Nomad Crusader. Wings fold when you drop cargo :)

    Back on topic :)

I'll start this off as there are a few issues (all fixed in a new version that i've just uploaded, 1.42), but the biggest problem has been the number of server crashes since the new 1.4 series, which was all down to one major thing, the Patriot light fighter. Every time someone tried to use the tractor beam, the server would crash, this includes npc's !! Anyone who has a Patriot should now experience the game properly. I've tested this on the Test server and it all works fine without a rebuy of the Patriot. Also the crashes have stopped when trying to use the tractor beam

White dwarves are known to mess with the rest, they look small on the map, but they cause all sorts of issues, most notably heat buildup. That being said, if it's not a white dwarf, then jumping in too close can also cause some odd behaviour to any star. Thought this was a thing of the past tbh
