A critical part of the re-install, especially since you have done some many, is to run Ccleaner or something like it to ensure that you have in fact gotten all the old left behind files removed. You would be surprised what hangs around after and uninstall. I believe the specifics are listed in the FAQ and the extended guide. I only mention this because I didn't see you mention this kind of cleaning. hth

Just saw this but Op and Hour are both right. Only way to "possibly" by pass all the different points would be to pay through the nose for a dedicated line btwn you and the server. Major bucks!! And you still would have to rely on the providers at each point of interface to ensure that the best route is being provided with 24 hour monitoring to ensure connectivity and no packet loss problems. Again, major costs and only done by large commercial concerns and governments. (Worked in that field for many years.)

Having said that, if you have the ability to upgrade what your ISP is providing without a lot of cost, you can come by better path conditions that way. Something to research.

Ok, gonna try this again. When I voted I was only thinking, as some have also said, that it be able to grab your attention if you are in the middle of a S--t Storm. I thought the color was actually Red Purple, but what do I know. I just know that there have been times when the current alert was missed or leaving the screen before I noticed it. Being an old guy, I need all the help I can get!
